What color should I paint my sliders?

I just received my savage sliders in the mail today! However, I don't know which color I want to paint them. Whatever color it is, I will eventually match the bumpers and flares to it. Right now I'm thinking Gun Metal or Black. Any opinions or any other ideas? it will be going on a white runner.

I think if you were to powder coat your wheels gunmetal, then have the sliders to match that would look very clean.

Also, I don't know how familiar you are with powder coating, but I just saw a textured powder coat color. I linked you it. Haven't seen it in person, but I ordered a few swatches to see what it's like.

Interesting. Be sure to post up on what it feels, and looks like. Yeah I thought about doing the gunmetal color. Eventually I will be getting front and rear bumpers and would paint to match so Idk.

Yeah. I don't want to pay to scratch them. I was planning to use rustoleum most likely.

Simple satin black, never seen a color i liked on sliders.

Also, I've got a swatch of that Super Grip Black already here, It's pretty much normal satin black, with little chunks of grit in it, not really textured like i thought it would be.

Don't do powder coat. It's expensive and you can't touch it up when it gets scratched. Sliders are meant to be scratched and abused so just go with rattle can. it's freaking cheap and you can always repaint over the scratches that will happen.

I was in the same boat for color options since I already have gunmetal accents on my rig. I decided it would be too hard to match the color well enough and I can always find a can of black semi-gloss for less than $2 no matter where I am if I need to touch them up. But me being a smart ass on the vote, I say do them bright pink! Save the Boobies! :girl:

I definitely know not to get a powdercoat on any armor lol. Well I don't have any gunmetal on my truck yet so Idk. I want to see it first..


But hey, didn't think of that pink. Maybe i'll put a pink pinstripe down the sides of each slider :girl:

I thought about that but I don't know how good that will look with the new cbi hyrbid...

I originally painted all my armor in satin black spray paint, and granted it is easy to touch up and fix it doesn't stay on worth a shit. Due to the sand blasting the sliders receive it just comes off within a few weeks. Likewise, my bumper got dirty and it seemed like it stained the spray paint or something...

After that I just used some bed liner (a gallon is more than enough) and did a single coat over everything, and it has held up far better and I think looks better and feels better with that texture to it than normal spray paint. Worse comes to worse you can always spray paint over it if you were in a pinch and had to fix a spot.

I used rustoleum spray on truck bedliner on my bumpers. It goes on thin enough with a light coat that it doesn't look horrible if you need to reapply and I always paint with gloss black to help with fade.

Rattlecan will work if you prep well and use a good etching primer and quality spray paint. The first time I painted my sliders I cheaped out and they did just like Sniv said, sandblasted and rusty inside of a month. I took my time the next time, and the paint held up much better.

It'll still get scratched on the rocks, though, nothing you can do about that.

Like Kevin said, good prep work is what makes a good paint job. Clean the bare metal very well to get rib of any and all oil on them. A couple good coats of a self etching primer and then nice even light coats of paint and they look great and the paint won't flake or chip until they meet rock.

looks super nice and smooth.. well done. I like the attachment youve got on the rattle can. I need to invest in one of those.
