$21,500 before tax and lic. :biggrin2:

2007 V6 SR5 4X2 Black
Roof rack, running boards, carpet mats, cargo net, tinted windows, tow package

Where and how were you able to get this price?

Crown Toyota in Ontario, California. One of those "1 at this price, only for this VIN" newspaper deals. $8000 off MSRP. A buddy of mine knows the GM of the dealership and he held it for me so nobody else could snatch it before I got there.

Loss Leader

Its called a loss leader. Dealers will advertise one vehicle at or below cost. Normally the statement that there is only one at this price is in small print. It draws people into the dealership. Normally, even if that particular vehicle is still available, the salesman will attempt to steer you towards another vehicle. Note also that a vehicle with few options is chosen as the loss leader. That way they lose less, and the salespeople have a great excuse to steer you to another vehicle because the loss leader will likely not have something you want.

$600 below invoice (before rebates and deals) on a 2006 LE, bought 1/28/2006 with a V-8 engine. PLUS, $500 back from Toyota National.

I first called Toyota's main customer service number and told them I couldn't decide between several vehicles (had some data on all) and asked a bunch of questions, then established "an account" for future calls.

Called a couple more times, still unsure, until the rep said Toyota would send me $500 back if I chose the T4R and sent them the VIN after purchase (don't tell the dealer).

THEN, I got car and option invoice pricing from www.fightingchance.com, then faxed the Internet/Fleet Sales Deparments of four or five of the largest dealers around during the week after xmas (end of month/end of year quotas time), specifying the EXACT car I wanted and letting them know I was faxing everyone else.

When they couldn't match the EXACT vehicle (mine wouldn't have rear air suspension and they wouldn't change the tires out) I became dejected and said I'd keep looking; then called back the next day and said I'd put my own tires on but would need a discount to afford it.

We ended up $600 below invoice, at which point I walked in for the first time and bought the car in 30 minutes.

Don't know if this will work with all versions all times, but I'm really happy.

The only thing they balked at was doing the sulfer TSD, but I got up to walk out and they agreed.

I guess the moral of the story is be willing to end the day without a car.

Since I knew the dealer, i was able to get it $150 above invoice then a $1000 rebate from Toyota. No "trickery" involved. My suggestion, buy from the same place. This was our third Toyota, and we always take our toyotas to them for major things, they know us as a family and want to deal with us. This would be my suggestion, it becomes a fun experience instead of a stressful one.

$32.5K 2004 SE V8. It came with all the options you could get on a SE, except for leather and the Nav.

Still the SUV best deal around.

Hi Key -

I actually had an "in" with a Toy dealer from a friend whose family owns several other brand dealers. He called to introduce me, yet the dealer STILL wanted invoice price. Costco's deal was $700 ABOVE invoice?!!!

So, yeah, it took 3 days to agree on a price, but it was really just a matter of being patient and letting the dealers compete with eachother.

In the end, I bought a 2006 LE V-8 with XREAS, Sunroof, rear spoiler, side airbags, and DRL for $35011 before tax and title, and I love the car. I was also impressed with the dealer. Since I was very straight forward, so was he; AND I didn't waste a lot of time on the purchase (I'd guess I have a total of about five hours of energy in it -- time value of money counts!).

You DO have to watch Toy service. Don't know why their so hard nosed about fixing things; it's the only part of the experience of owning that leaves a lot to be desired.

Nice talking with you!

BTW, the dealer was DARCARS in MD and the salesman, Moussa Fall. Really nice guy, though I think he was new (or maybe I've been spending too damn much time here, since I know more about the vehicle than the salesman by far! :-)

I Paid $23999 plus tax. 2007 black sr5 2wd with 30 miles on it. They also put Catzkin leather seats in it for free. I couldn't pass that deal up. I almost bought a 2003 4runner limited with 40k miles on for the same price. I am glad I waited and bought a brand new one.

Basically I called the dealership to see if they had any used 4th gen 4runners and he said no but I can get any base SR5 for 23999.:D

I paid $33,913.55 Out the door for my 2005 Limited listed in my sig....i emailed all the dealers in my area and had them going back a forth with each other until one of them couldn't go any lower...I love the car and I think i got a great deal..sticker was $40k and some change.

Sticker was, 36 plus... I got it for 30,500, then got b!#(*ch slapped by taxes. Man ouch. so 33, and some change.

I tried to get a Limited that was loaded, but the lowest was 35,123 I wanted it for 34,000 (sticker was 42,000), oh well, I even put an 18,000 dollar check in front of the saleman and he thought I was joking.

$26,500 for 2004 LTD 4x4 V8 W/Nav and 35k miles Not sure why anyone would ever buy new with such a cheap warranty upgrade available. The platinum care thing covers me until July of 2011 or 100k miles which is longer than I financed it. I'm active duty Marine Corps and don't pay sales tax or personal property tax in SC either so the $26,500 plus what I paid for the warranty was my "out the door" price. Did the title work myself too.

Brand new 2007 Sport Edition 4X4 V8 with everything except JBL sound

Paid $33,339 plus taxes, out the door

Mountain States Toyota in Denver. They had the exact truck I wanted in inventory, they were professional, and handled the whole transaction very smoothly.

I am now a big fan!

And the price was right too ;):

2006 SE 2WD (MSRP $31,805). Total out the door with CA tax and license $27,609. Basically $25,247 including the $2000 rebate at the time.
