What Did Toyota Change with ABS System in 2001?

I've been doing some research for a project I want to do and have noticed that in the 2001 and 2002 3rd gens, the ABS actuator is not where it is in previous years. In previous years, it is on the passenger side of the engine bay near the firewall, however, in 2001 and 2002 the spot is empty.

I've PM'd a couple of people, but they didn't know and a search here and the web came up with nothing.

Does anybody know what Toyota did to remove the actuator? Is it somewhere else? Is it electronically controlled so the piece isn't needed?

Thanks! Where is that located? Is that reservoir on top for the brake fluid or a different system? Do you know what's different about it? Is there more electronics, less analog parts?

I'm wondering if there is compatibility between the old and new system so I could swap in the newer system (assuming it's out of my way).

That's the brake master cylinder, located on the drivers side at the firewall. It's very different from what you have as the models that come with this have VSC (vehical stability control) and TRAC (an early version of the A-TRAC available on newer 4Runners, FJ's and Tacoma's). It involves different lines, sensors and has added ECU's. It would not be economical or rewarding in any way to attempt to retrofit it in.

it would be cool to be able to see which tire it thought was spinning and then be able to lock each wheel individually. usually the trac system just kind of hammers the brakes.
