Pulled my Front runner roof rack off and did the rack delete.

Dilemma: How to safely transport a 9' fully rigged fly rod in the T4R.

Explanation: Yes, I know that breaking it down is the safest option but it takes time. When you are driving from one part of a river to the next, or are fishing where it may be crowded, the ability to park and GO, can be essential.

Options: Internally mounted overhead rod rack-T4R is too short and the angles on the ceiling don't work. External rod box like a Rod Vault or Big Sky Rod Box-expensive and don't have one yet (that will be my ultimate solution after my Gobi Stealth arrives; if it ever arrives.

Solution: Drop the pass through on the back seat. Place reel on rear edge of cargo liner. Cut a couple of knotches in a piece of foam pipe insulation (a DIY secret weapon BTW), velcro to carpet on back of pass through seat, and Bob's your uncle!

It works in the driveway; I'll see how it works on the road.

I broke down and ordered a titan rod vault. Be prepared to wait as long as it takes to get the Gobi rack. Just a word of warning.

Did the rearview camera mod. Thanks to [MENTION=48991]sp8ball[/MENTION] and [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION] for a great write up. I love being able to turn the camera on when ever I want. BTW THE TABS on the switch where the wires solder on are way smaller than they look than they are.

Drove up Black Mountain Truck Trail from Pamo Valley (northeast of San Diego) to the top of the ridge. Was surprised that it was possible to drive the whole way, as some trail descriptions talk about gate closures and hiking. 3000 feet of altitude gain in less than 7 miles. Even has pine trees, a stiff breeze, and cool mountain air at the top. Not to mention an amazing view.

Dropped down 3/4 of the way, then headed east via Santa Ysabel Creek Trail to Black Canyon Rd. All dirt.

I'm starting to figure out this whole "patience" thing. I don't like it but the opportunities to practice just keep coming..
It looks like current pre-orders for the rod vault are estimated to ship in August. The Big Sky Rod Box is also currently out of stock as well but it's twice the cost and you have to climb a tire to load the rods into it.

what light bar is that? how'd you set up your relay and all of that? i know how everything gets wired, just curious about how people set theirs up. I think i'm going to build a small platform for an aux fusebox between the hood hinge and the master cylinder.

its the cali raised led kit with their little relay holder (which is actually pretty sweet)

the cabling that came with the light bar was pretty wild.. tons of room to grow... but the wires from the battery to the relay were inexplicably short. im going to have to lengthen the positive wire (or run it into the fuse box) and shorten the switch wires and the wires from the relay to the light bar.

its reasonably priced and simple to install once you sort out removing the bumper
