...The last few days here have been calm and bright sun...( and cold )...so I decided to get out and take a few hikes to break in a new pair of insulated winter boots...

...The first 3-mile hike was on open-range, temp started at 16 and dropped to 9 by the time I got back to the truck....

...the 2nd hike was up to Grotto-Falls...deep in the forests near Hyalite-Lake..another 3-mile hike thru deep snow...temps went from 15 to 10 by the time I got back....but the weather was perfect...no wind...no clouds...no crowds!..:bravo:

...The drive to the trailhead was fantastic! The Falls were good, but probably better in warm weather...but the hike to and from was Spectacular!...( pic of the truck from the trailhead )...

Did my 5000 mile oil change and installed my yellow LED fogs. Very happy with the fogs bulbs, cheap O from EBAY. For anyone with RCI skids, I highly suggest you remove them when performing your oil change. They may make it easier to access the drain plug and filter but they by no means make oil changes easier. Oil spills EVERYWHERE when you pull the drain plug. Had to remove it to clean it, may as well just remove it to change the oil.

Mounting points...I read some reviews here (after I ordered it) that it isn't needed on the 5th gen...

Installed the Accessorides Remote start. They missed sending me the SmartStart Module, which it sounds like they are sending it out on the next thing smoking.

I did have a programming problem, but their tech guys straightened me out and it works like a champ. As a guy who installs radio equipment for a living I'm extremely impressed with their T-Harness. Really amazing piece of kit.



I also removed my N-Fab steps to return them to Amazon. Very disappointed in these. The passenger side still looks great but the driver side looks like I've had them 10 years and drive on gravel.

2. The remote start works well? does it bypass the limited keyless entry?

So far so good on the remote starter. I can still lock and unlock the doors and start the vehicle without taking the fob out of my pocket. When the engine is remote started the motor does die when you open the door. But, I think that's pretty par for the course on the keyless system.

H11 fit no problem.

I tried using the original size bulbs for my fogs and they just didn't fit. I put in the h11's and not only did they fit, the output is a lot better

Yeah I hear ya and I'm planning on it. It was 30 degrees so I wasn't leaving the house last night.

Projectors are coming along. Last thing to paint is the bowls. I was going to leave the HB bowl reflective and blackout the LB, but I’m thinking it might look weird. So I might black out both bowls since I’ve got bi-xenon projectors

Cant wait to see the finished product!!!!!

Washed it. The ceramic coating makes it easy and looks better than new.

Looks fantastic - I thought the black was one of the weaker colors, specifically due to its durability (not the color itself), even as observed on the dealer lots. What is the bull bar up front?

Thanks. The quality of the clear and black paint on my 2001 4Runner that I owned for over 17 years was fantastic. The new paints and clear are water based or eco friendly and not as good. I’m glad I had the paint correction and ceramic coating done. I keep my vehicles for a long time. The bumper guard is a Tyger, which, IMO was the best looking bumper guard out there. It is $179 on Amazon and is an easy install. I’m not ready to spend $1000 to $1500 for parts and labor for a low profile winch bumper at this time. This works great for my lights and license plate and adds some protection, as I have already encountered, a driver backing up in to my guard while I was parked.

Lot's of parts have been or will be ordered by the end of this week. Just happened to have time to pick these up yesterday.

Picked up some OEM style buttons for the pending LED bar and Ditch lights coming. Also successfully swapped my key into the AJT fob. Took about 15 minutes but managed to not mess up the chip.

I found it easier to pry back the plastic around the chip with wire cutters rather than box knife.

$300 quote for painting? Nah

Decided to spend $30 on supplies and make my silver valances black myself. Good amount of wet sanding, followed by paint, followed by wet sanding, followed by paint and then a bit more paint a few days later and "wallah!"
