Installed my Shrockworks skid plates and some rock lights

Had some thoughts and regrets that I should have just gotten them powder coated but it was kind of fun putting in the prep and paint work into this. Everything took a week to clean, paint, and dry on my time. Finally installed them today. I'll have to save the gas skid for another day.
In the middle of it all I added some cheapo lights I got from Amazon.

All you have to do now is keep up with it. I clean and paint mine a few times a year. It's a 2016 so not old but everything under it is still spotless and I plan on keeping it that way.

Mine is a 2016 as well. Up in New Jersey it doesn't take long for everything to start rusting. I loved in Arizona for 8 years before moving here I. 2011. Couldn't believe how bad it can get.

Took a road trip up to Rainy Lake MN, just north east of International Falls. Rented a house boat for a week with my brother in-law and family. Did some fishing but I didn't have as much luck. Nephews got about 12 Walleyes and 3 Northern Pike. Clocked 2,107.5 miles round trip on the T4R.

Brother in-law's boat broke down mid week. Most likely needs a fuel pump as it starts but won't hold idle. He's been wanting a new boat for awhile and this pushed him over the edge. I had a hitch ball on the truck thinking we might find a boat up there. Brother In-law gave me his.

Got to tow it 1050 some miles home. Rear end was sagging but the 4Runner handled it just fine. Researching here, looks like I need some airbags if I plan to tow this again with the Toyota. Handling was just fine in the curves. I stayed around 69mph to 74mph going home. No problem passing other vehicles. I take back what I said earlier about towing, the 4Runner can handle it. Just needed a few 100 miles to get used to it.

MPG trip up average (no boat) = 19.63
MPG towing the boat back home = 14.40

I didn't get a pic of the truck with the saggy rear end and front sticking up in the air. Snapped this pic today after rehitching the boat this morning.

Put my Bushcraft skills to work building a fire. Cotton balls soaked in petroleum jelly work awesomely as a fire starter.

Yesterday, went to the Rubicon. It was a great day. After four hours, only made it from Loon Lake to the end of Little Sluice, via the bypass. At that point, had a quick lunch and headed back out. Only managed to use all armor and skids and managed to bust one tail light. I call that a win.

Super easy to install. I just went down to a local sign shop and gave them $30 and about 15 min later it was on. About my 3rd day of ownership of the 4rnr I got the glare and it was a no go. I began looking for a solution and next option was paint or hood swap.

I'm originally from Long Island and now in Maryland. Believe me, I know all about rust lol. That's why I do what I do to protect my truck. I plan on keeping it for many years so I may as well be as preventative as possible.

Finally got a day to do some projects! Plasti dipped my stock Trail wheels with Black Sapphire. In between coats I installed heated seats off amazon along with some Clazzio seat covers! I'm pretty happy with the results

Rims look fantastic. I briefly considered powder coating my Trail rims, but kind of settled on the TRD Sema rims or some other variant of black. Now after seeing yours and how well they turned out I have to reconsider. Keeping the center cap logo silver is a nice touch

Soooooooooo I just got my Trail back from my autobody guy ... after him having it for ALMOST 10 months. Long story short I smashed right into a pole last winter post ice storm. The road was untreated and completely covered in ice. All the airbags went off, but I was totally fine. My insurance company decided not to total it out and and so began 10 months of me not having a car.

Toyota had the airbag recall on the T4R just when this happened so it sat around at the autobody for four months. When they got the airbags in my mechanic called saying the headliners doesn't match with my moonroof - ahhh! I remembered I had it put in by the dealer sans purchase - so I had to wait two months to have them track down the shop who did the install so they can cut the headliner to fit.

I just got it back last Tuesday and today I decided to throw on the Overland Depot Raptor lights kit, TRD Pro Grill and their yellow fog overlays. I am so happy to get the rig back. They detailed the interior and MANNNN it smells BRAND NEWWWWW :whoo:

TRD wheels keep giving me reasons to keep them. Would have lost that valve stem for sure on another wheel.

Picked up this little gem, all aluminum...Got it from the original owner that hauled it down here and used it once. Its a "cargo lite" from micro lite trailers. Doubles as a little toy hauler. Hoping to explore some new bike trails this winter.
