Finally got her stuck. in a wash I've been in plenty of times, but this time it had a stream flowing from 30 hours of rain a week ago. Walked back to the road, got a ride home, took out the missus' stock 14 TE to pull it out the next day, ended up chatting with a LEO, getting written up and walking out to my truck with a brand new tow strap. Backup plan was to come along with the tow strap to a nearby tree. Instead, at the suggestion of a friend, I aired down the tires. Then crawl control backed it right out and we played in the stream.
Rookie mistake. Or over confidence - I've never needed to air down before. I love my cooper at/3's.
Scratched my baja racks ladder with the high lift (tilted too much). Scratched my sliders the same way. High lift isn't working quite right now either. I'm hoping it just needs lubed up.
Later in the same day we went 4 wheeling over a nice rocky trail and I made solid contact with a boulder that I thought I was clear of. Now my sleekster body mount sliders are officially broken in with a nice shiny scrape through the otherwise immaculate powder coat.
It was a good day. Hope the fines aren't too steep.

Went to Rausch Creek Off Road Park for an off road 101 driving class. Area was completely snow covered making the trails that much more fun.
The view may not be as pretty as those out West but thought I would throw it out there anyway.
If the video posts correctly...the last vehicle being talked about on the radio was one of the last two Jeeps in our group. One slid off the trail and rested on a pine tree. Fortunately, all got out OK and the recovery was successful without damage to the vehicle or people!
No after-market mods to 4x4 system, just in 4-Lo, no locker, no A-Track or other features enabled.

It was a good 200 feet before anything other than sand was to be found in front of the truck even if I had one...
Speaking of winch - Anyone else run in the desert that can speak to the usefulness of a winch? We don't have many anchor points around. This was the first time I ever got stuck, too. I suppose another vehicle would be good to winch to. That's what the come along is for though - plus it's a few grand cheaper. Hey, everyone's got a budget..

A winch anchor can help is some situations, including sand.
An old timey trick that takes a bit of back breaking work is, bury your spare tire completely, as deep as you can dig it down (With the winch rope attached to it of course) and you can winch out that way.
I just recently bought a used winch anchor off a guy since I do a lot of desert offroading
There are several out there but apparently though testing, there is only one that really works well called "Pull Pal"

Great weather here in the SW desert; went out with the Prescott No Club Club and ran the Bloody Basin to Dugas Ranch Great Western Trail...Great run..mostly wide open dirt roads with some water crossings and fun tricky spots ...Sorry if vid is long; still trying to figure out how to edit.

where is the mountains did you go?Went up in the mountains to go snow shoeing with the dog. Snow was really wet and deep - ended up getting stuck once and had to dig out. AT tires suck in this kind of stuff...
Stevens Pass - Tonga Ridge Trailhead. Take hwy 2 east, right on Foss River Road - turns into FS roads, and just keep going up till you can't anymore. The last spur of the road is about 1.5 miles and keeps getting steeper and deeper. I made it about half way up and got stuck. I was by myself, so I backed down a little, parked, and hiked the rest of the way up.

Came back from 4 days in and around the Maze District of Canyonlands. 708 miles, about half of that off pavement.
That leaf pack looks great for a SAS. You should have grabbed it!
