What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

You know, the KDSS is nice and all around corners and during braking but that is not the big thing(s) I noticed so far:
1. Brakes are much different. Gone is the 2" travel before engagement and the "squish" has been reduce to almost nothing.
2. Heated wiper grid.
3. Seat difference - much firmer and better for me.
4. No low speed 1st to 2nd gear transmission shudder when turning.
5. Homelink seems to send a much stronger signal. Have not tested it fully yet though.
6. Entune HU better for phone use
7. Not BLACK anymore. Will cut my detail time by 90% lol.

My question is: "Has Toyota actually changed these things (brake pedal feel, transmission MAP, Homelink) or did I just get a substandard one last time?"

Interesting. Well, congrats. I'd do it in a second, if I could (including no more black).......don't like sleeping on the couch, though.

No, I generally commute from Arlington to Reston, so I am normally on 66 and 267..

I think you may have just gotten the substandard. I never had any of the issues you just mentioned. but congrats on the new TE. I've loved every minute of mine.

Do you have you some Crankbrothers wheels? I almost got a set a few months ago from our crankbrother rep, but talked myself out of it. I was getting cobalt 29ers for a steal to put on my Vassago Jaberwocky frame but never did. I still have yet to start building it.

I was wondering the same thing on the Coopers. Are you going to run the factory ones for awhile, Coopers again, or something different?

The XX was the bees knees when I was working at the bike shop last year. Pretty easy to work on, but the front derailure could get finicky sometimes. If you have the XX brakes be sure to break them in the right way according to SRAM. We had some issues getting them to break in right and they would do all sorts of screaming under any pad contact. Had them on a Litespeed Cohutta and Cannondale Carbon Flash 29er. SRAM is a fantastic company to work with if you ever need anything from them.

What is the brake [sic] in procedure? I hope it is do a quick 8 mile ride where you feel like superman bombing up and down the trails. :biggrin2: I can't get over how impressed I am with this bike. After getting feel for the wide bars and 2x10 setup, I couldn't believe how much fun I was having on the bike. Man, what a bucket of fun. So much more impressed with this bike that I thought I would be.

Was it 40% off cause you're missing half your fork? ;-) Nice ride. I'm on a Yeti 575 - made right near where i live.

You'd think after nearly 15 years, the jokes would cease. My other 2 Cannondales have Lefty forks and I love them. This one is set up a little on the stiff side right now, so I need to do some tweaking, but you can't beat them for precision and weight.

MMMMMMmmmmmm....Bike porn! Nice bike components are just as bad if not worse than the cost of 4runner mods!

I was going to do a TE conversion on my BP SR5. Yeah, that has been pushed off. Thankfully, the only thing I'd even consider changing on this bike is putting my carbon rail Fizik Tundra saddle on it and maybe some Ergon grips.

I think they are worse. Price a set of Crank Brothers rims lol.

I will run the OEM tires for 20K miles or so again. No big deal as that will be mid summer 2013. Yes I will get the Cooper AT3's again. I drove them in all conditions and for the money they are the best all around tire for my use. The Michelin is a better road tire but I do go off road some and the Michelin has no performance in just a little mud.

She's got icon coils and shocks in the rear and a temporary spacer lift up front with LR UCA's. Once she recovers from the Budbuilt order she'll be getting kings up front.

Finally used this waterless wash stuff that I've had for awhile. Works great, but not sure its worth the price. Soap is definitely cheaper. I'll have to see if the "wash once a month" claim holds up.

I also crank the ICON coilovers up a little bit. Im running em at a full 3" and so far they ride great. Ill give it a few days before i head to firestone (gotta love the lifetime alignment).

Yeah I'll be bringing in her truck to get her lifetime alignment on tuesday probably. I dont have the meet list memorized, are you on it? If not just add yourself. When I got my lifetime alignment done they forgot about my truck and didnt even start it until they were officially closed. They made up for it by making it cost only $100 :banana: Cant' beat that!
