What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Nothing out there a stock limited can't do. You'd have to be pretty careful in rocky sections to not scratch your rims (if you care about that), and you're likely to get some pinstriping, but other than that it is all doable.

Sorry to be a complete newb, but are there different "levels" of trails there to drive through? (you know kind of like hiking trails )

I am thinking about heading out there sometime to check it out, but this would literally be my absolute first time off-roading ever in any vehicle, so not really wanting to get in over my head...

I have a completely stock 4runner as well, am I asking for trouble? Thanks!

Got it dirty. Headed out to GWNF to run some trails I haven't done in a while. Great day, first 'at speed' test of the new Omege rear shocks. Good news is they are awesome! Bad news is now I need some in the front, and to adjust my front c/o's a tad up (tires hitting top of wheel well on hard compression).

I am newb...How do you know the names to all the trails in GWNF? I've never seen any signs...but I also haven't been looking for signs...

Took the incredibly long way home today from work (school). Followed a dirt road up the river for about 30 miles and found the next bridge across the river. Stopped at a few Lewis and Clark historical markers.

Installed my viair 400p-rv air compressor.
Check my thread from today for pic. Didn't do anything fancy. Just removed sand plate and used a large c clamp to "bolt" it down.

really? they squeak? does this pertain just to these or do all the aftermarket ones do that? i cant stand having a fairly new truck and having squeaks in the suspension given how well and quiet they drive

UCA's that have uni-balls are notorious for squeaking. UCA's like Light Racing that run a traditional style ball joint are typically quieter. That is, once they re-designed the bushings.

Last year Total Chaos changed to FK's WSSX-16T Teflon lined heat treated Stainless Steel Uni-Balls FK Bearing WSSX16T Precision Wide Series Spherical Bearing 1.000 x 2.125 Teflon Liner instead of the previous Aurora chrome plated steel uni-balls for the upper ball joints and supposedly alleviated the squeak problem according to Matt at TC.

I rebuilt my old set with the new SS uniballs a couple of months ago and they have been quiet as a mouse. Not much dirt on them yet so the verdict is still out but happy so far.IMO,you get what you pay for in the TC's and are a superior design. I also still got over +5 caster with camber zero on my recent alignment which what I was shooting for.

My LR's started squeaking after about 2 years(40k miles) and when I took them off the bushings were cracked and basically disintegrating. There's pics I posted of them in a previous thread somewhere.A bunch were having the same problem and the reason for the design change to the new"Spec Ride" bushings which I recently found out they revised again to a different washer set-up . :wtf:

Time will tell but this is at least 4 design changes of the LR's in the last 4 years so my confidence in them is starting to wain and I have a set sitting on my work bench needing a complete rebuild with new bushings and a ball joint.

Interesting. Keep us up to date. My LRs started squeaking last spring after less than a year of use. I've been contemplating switching them out when I upgrade my suspension.

Is that arm supposed to grip the top tube? My Thule of similar design grips the front tire in the v between the tire and fork stanchions.
