What gen GS? Current? The new GS and IS look phenomenal. I'm really, really considering one when a wagon isn't so necessary. (And when I'm done saving the world in my Prius, hehe)

hers is a 2008. you'll love it.. the throttle response is amazing.. go test drive one for shits and giggles to see what i'm talking about.. you won't need the GS430/460

How does the silver match the 4runner? Have any photos???

The carrier is silver and our T4R is gray so they do not match exactly. But certainly close enough for the amount of time it is actually on the roof. The best part is that there is no wind noise.

Just a few things today...

Today I dropped a AFE dry air filter into my air intake and while I was in there I removed the secondary carbon filter. (BTW in a '13 it isn't riveted in bit glued so you have to cut it to remove it then scrape all the crap off the air filter box. Not sure if this is news to anyone but when I tried to look it up there was no info about it being glued.) Throttle response is much better. I will be manually tracking gas mileage to see how it changes.
Also had to grind down my d-ring receiver hitch. It fit fine in my '11 taco but wouldn't quite fit in the 4runner. had to take a good bit off all the corners and maybe 1/32 off each side. (I am just to damn cheap to just buy a new one.) Any body ever hear of that problem? (My regular towing hitch fits fine)

Also... tried out zip ties and that seems to hold it pretty well but then even after you cut off the extra, there is still some protruding plastic from it.

It's tough to get zip ties perfect but a cable tie gun will generally cut them very close to flush.

Blacking out the Chrome!

Well over past week, I've changed to TE headlights, Blacked out all chrome on front and rear, and installed TE Roof Rack. Next will be door handles and chrome on sides. Then maybe wheels..... We will see...

It's tough to get zip ties perfect but a cable tie gun will generally cut them very close to flush.

Grab the tail of the zip tie with a set of linesmens and twist it off - it will come off flush every time.

Joined the BudBuilt Club!

Installed my BudBuilt Sliders yesterday. The whole process took about 4 hours start to finish...that included sanding, cleaning, priming, painting, paint drying (while I washed the truck) and then bolt on. Nothing different from most...used a 3M finishing pad and a wire brush to prep the surface. Then used a degreasing cleaner to clean the surface. Used 2 cans of self etching primer and 3 cans of truck bed liner (Rustoleum). I read several comments about the truck bed liner not leaving a textured finish...I will disagree. The finish is like a coarse sand paper, should provide adequate grip when using as a step. I am very pleased with how everything turned out, especially the fit. I did this by myself, without ay jack stands or anything for that matter to hold the sliders in place. So, as you can imagine, there was a little wresting with these things to get them in place! The driver side takes a little longer than the passenger due to the gas tank...but even without instructions, anyone with common sense can figure out what to do. There is plenty of room to be used as a step. I have removed the rocker panels from my SR5 which may contribute to a little extra footing. I had to spend most of yesterday after the install comforting my wife. She seems to think that because they are called "rock sliders" that I must now go and find some rocks to slide off of...:rockon:
As usual, the cell phone was just handy...FYI for reference, I wear a size 12 shoe.

Looks good man. I love my BB sliders and I used rustoleum bed liner and love the texture and the grip it gives me.

Used my 5th gen as an XJ recovery vehicle. My XJ left me stranded 10 miles from home when the battery cable shorted out against my oil filter, bursting the side of the latter and spewing oil everywhere. :mad2: Had a plume of smoke behind me that made it look like someone had shot down an airplane.

Washed, clayed and waxed and then took it to the bike path. For all those hardcore mountain bikers on here, the bike is my father's. My parents just use them on the bike paths so don't be flaming me for the type of bike it is lol.

Spent some hours up on the trails with [MENTION=98117]comtn4x4[/MENTION]. Was finally able to summit Baldy! 4th time's a charm. Sorry, mostly poser shots as we were to busy to get some good action pics. Hopefully he'll chime in with some of his. Was great to meet you Alec!
