What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

For the guys with an ARB bumper...

Upgraded the turn signal/DRLs to LED...





Easy mod...just time consuming as it takes 24 hours to let the silicone adhesive cure. Only had to trim one of the existing (inner) tabs that the ARB DRL screws into - but not remove completely - so in theory I could return this solution back if needed. The LEDs are compeltely sealed and watertight (IP68) so they should last.

I also re-wired my Light bar using 10GA wire - it was a PITA to do - but it lights up fully now under battery alone. The distance (30 feet) was simply too long for 14GA wire and the 10GA can handle 30 AMPS at this distance even thought the light bar only throws a little more than 20 AMPS. Good news is that I get to re-use the 14GA wire (and all the work running the wire) for the lights going into the CBI rear bumper whenever I get it. op2:

Forgot I had ordered a cargo cover which showed up over the weekend. I'm really disappointed with the fit. Theres about 6" from the back of the rear seat which is left completely uncovered and about 3" left uncovered from the tailgate. It just basically covers the middle section of the trunk space. I just assumed it covered the whole space. Contemplating selling it.

This is probably kind of a 4runner noob thing to say, but I am SO GLAD that the rear window goes down!

Bringing home a small bundle of 1 in by 10 foot EMT pipe this weekend was infinately easier than if the tailgate hadn't had a retractable window in it.

I sure hope that's not something they decide to remove in the future!

That sounds like the most logical conclusion but on my 4th gen, the tonneau cover came with a 4" to 6" flap that would clip to the back seat head rest to cover the remainder of the space. The seats didn't recline on that one so they might have omitted that on the 5th gens because of the reclining function.

I like the middle pic... what did you use?

It's an iphone app called Aviary that I used the linear focus. I was going for a Tilt-Shift effect without spending the grand on a lens but most every photo editing software (app or cpu application) allows you to focus like this.

That sounds like the most logical conclusion but on my 4th gen, the tonneau cover came with a 4" to 6" flap that would clip to the back seat head rest to cover the remainder of the space. The seats didn't recline on that one so they might have omitted that on the 5th gens because of the reclining function.

I just reclined the seats and pretty much fixed that issue. But there's still a gap to the tailgate.

Greased the u-joints. Slip-yokes to go... (after I find the proper grease around this town).
Raised the front of my roof rack 1/2" for extra clearance with roof - 1/8" clearance seemed too sketchy
Deleted an aftermarket daytime running light module for my fogs.

Tomorrow: Steam cleaning the engine bay and possibly wire up some independent fogs.

Did the exact same with my baja. Couple rubber shims under the front supports did it for me.
