What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I installed my shower system today. My woman will be very pleased. Summer is coming and we have a lot of traveling to do.

Hi folks,

I finally replaced my original aftermarket Fog light "Rocker switch" made by 'otrattw'. From day one I never should have installed it because it didn't fit in the factory "knock-outs" on the dash made for the accessories.

As a result I had to cut out the trim panel "switch bay flange" to make it fit. A few weeks ago I'd ordered a brand new switch from a company by the name of "Slee off-road'" and last week I received the new switch in the mail. It's a "direct fitting", fog-light switch (upper RH corner) specifically for 5'th gen 4Runners; no cutting, no alterations necessary.


The thing I like about it is that it's a "push button" type switch, just like all the others on this panel. It has an 'led' indicator for when the fog-lights are on. It also has an etched "luminescent lamp icon" that glows at night with the others, when the headlights are on:

Ha, yeah that flat hood and coming back out of the desert at sunset (for me) are a lethal glare combo. Love the way the flat black looks on the red trucks.

Replaced my battery with an Autozone Duralast Platinum AGM size 34R. It fits perfect when you use the included base plate spacer.

Long Weekend in Central Washington

Well, it wasn't exactly today, but we had a 4-day weekend and headed over to the Central Washington "Scab Lands" for some of that elusive Northwest sunshine - and some great clouds. First night at Wanapum State Park on the Columbia River. The dirt roads in the Whiskey Dick wildlife area by Vantage were still closed for the season, so it was back to the trailer for an afternoon nap instead. Next day drove up to Sun Lakes State Park and moved in for 2 nights. Great hike around Umatilla Rock, then drove up to Steamboat Rock State Park the next day and hiked Northrup Canyon and played in the sand in the F'runner. Finally hiked Ancient Lakes outside of Quincy on the way home. A good reminder that Washington isn't all just Christmas trees and mountains.

Most of these light switches (seen below) are O.E. Toyota 4Runner (of various generation), w/ the exception of a few Camerys' with factory fog light dash switches; which I posted to document toyota's consistency with different models over the yrs. The 'etched' lamp icon faces left with a slight "downward angle", with the ON indicator LED at the top:

Had Opti-Coat Pro applied today. For those that don't know it's a highly durable clear coat that provides an extra layer of protection from the elements. I was primarily looking to minimizing pinstriping and elemental damage over the years without having to wax frequently. I've never had any professional detailing done but I can firmly say the truck looks better than the day I drove it off the lot. I'm curious to see how the Opticoat performs over the next few months here as I've got some trips planned.
