First road trip!
Solo camping trip at D.L. Bliss State Park in Lake Tahoe. Slept in the back even though i brought a tent.

That looks nice. I haven't been to Hidden Falls yet, but most of the pictures I've seen involve people trying to bend stuff on the rocks. Did you find some fairly easy trails to get started with?

Yes. I was able to do up to the level 3 trails with nothing more than lift and tires. I had no issues at all. No body damage. Some of the areas were pretty narrow so I do have some pin striping but all very minor. My wife also did a lot of driving (has never done anything like it before) with me spotting and had a great time. With at least a rear locker and some skids and sliders for just in case you could easily do the level 4s.

I have the rear locker and skids now. You might also want to look into Canyons ORV park over north of Fredericksburg. I did manage to meet a group up there a couple months ago and we had a good day. Look up "Central Texas Offroaders" on Facebook. They try to go out a couple times a month. Most of them are in the San Antonio/Austin area.

Took the long way up into the mountains yesterday, went over Georgia Pass on an amazing day. The kids enjoyed the picnic near the top and my 3yr old daughter giggled most of the way down the hard side saying "More bumpety bump daddy!". Until she fell asleep, while still on the trail actually... ah kids.

Succumbed to the itch and visited a few shops to talk about lifting and getting new tires for my '14 LTD. I've had her for 7 months. It's time to play!
Also, since this is my first post so I'll introduce myself. Greetings. I am Da8ron. I live in the MD/DC/VA area and previously lived on the beach in NC. I'm new to SUVs and 4Runners. I've only been off-roading a few times with friends but loved it. I bought the 4Runner to have a safer ride during winter commutes and also a more comfortable year-round ride (I came from Honda Civicland...and shall never return).
I've been lurking here for about 10 months and really do enjoy these forums. This is an educated, informed, and polite crew and I'm happy to join you! I'm savvy on internet forum etiquette (use the search function, newb; etc) so I won't be creating any redundant or annoying threads. If anyone wants to PM me about trails the area or tire and lift kits for a '14 LTD please feel free to do so. I'd like to keep the same wheels but am open to suggestions!
Here's a pic from a recent road trip. I stopped at one of the historic C&O canals along the Potomac River. Such a beautiful day (and 4Runner). Looking forward to outfitting my ride and hitting a few trails less traveled for some better pics! Cheers.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forums! (First time I've been able to do this!)
I am also in the DMV area (Alexandria, VA) and am somewhat new to the 4Runner (trail for me), but not new to 4x4 or off roading.
2 weekends ago I went to Red Cloud Off Road Park in Lorton, VA (15min from my place) and had a blast. I HIGHLY recommend getting a proper lift and tires. With that, you'll be able to ride sooo many trails without much damage at all. The only damage I succumbed to was some itty bitty scratches on my plastic bumper fascia's. Doesn't bother me any since I want front and rear bumpers anyways.
Red Cloud is an amazing place with lots of trails of varying degrees. I would check out there site (Red Cloud Off Road | RCOR) as well as (DirtRoadTrip) - the dirtroadtrip fellas put out lots of interesting and useful information.
Welcome and don't hesitate to reach out - we'll be doing more wheeling at Red Cloud and on some less abusive trails in GW National Forest, etc...
FYI - check out my video of red cloud (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxJALNxb4XA) there was stock-height 4th gen with A/T tires who did great out there and another 5th gen limited with lift/tires/etc who did great out there.

For local shops, I recommend High Tech Auto in Chantilly, VA - those cats are forum-famous and do great work
