What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I'm big onto practice and safety and she's really picking that up. The safety was an instant hit for her, trigger and muzzle discipline has never been an issue since I first took her shooting. We've been working on standard marksmanship with the pistol and rifle for a long time, and now I'm trying to introduce her to shooting, moving and cover, as well as failure and jam assessment under duress. Good bonding for couples! And she wants to go hunting this coming season, too.

Went to central Calif. coast to Pismo/Oceano dunes. Rented an ATV for my son and we used the 4Runner as a chase car. It was strange for me to be on the ATV and see my 4Runner beside me.
Pulled out a Jeep that stopped at the crest of a dune, and helped an F150. Would have liked to see the limo running.
Last photo is at the top of a dune just before going down. My wife did not like the view.

Believe it or not back in the 80's and 90's I had a hard time moving on from lifted (not the bro trucks of today) and modded short, wide single cab pickup trucks. I must have fixed up six or seven of them in a 15 year period. I had a '84 Chevy that was a tank pushing around 425 hp.
I look back on those days fondly but man I don't miss wrenching on a trail at 2am just to get back home. I don't miss waiting for the inevitable death wobble to come and have to slow down to 10 mph on the hard roads while it worked it's way out. I certainly don't miss getting out of the truck (or Jeep) and seeing both front wheels facing away from each other.
I understand the lure pulling you back in but sometimes it's just time man. Dry the tears as you ride off into the sunset in your 4Runner without having to carry around every tool that Snap On makes just to get you there.
Oh, and I know the Jeep parts department counter guy was your best friend because you spent so much time with him but the Toyota guy is nice too. You won't see him near as much though. It's time stifler.

I spent about 6 hours detailing '14 Black LE. Washed with coconut oil infused bodywork shampoo, clayed, applied acryllic all in one polish/protectant, and carnuba wax. Results were fantastic. I'd still like to get another coat of the protectant on to bring the duration from 3-5 months to over 9 months, but we'll see how that goes. Let me know what you think. FEARNOSALT
