Installed my new Baja Utility Rack. Went pretty smooth. Some of the finish is a little annoying. Also, it seems they are now making the front legs adjustable, which seems different from what they were doing previously (anyone else have experience with this?) So when I tightened down some of the bolts, the finish started to crack off. Might just paint over those portions with plastidip, especially since the bolts are silver and don't match anything else.

Tell Hubby the bend goes forward. The instructions are for a Tacoma. Still applied as of last February.

Today i used 4-Lo on purpose for the first time.

coming out of my neighborhood, i have a pretty steep hill to climb, and with the 3 to 4 inches of snow on it, its almost impossible to get up to the top and out into the rest of the world.

this morning, with the snow coming down, and just to see how it would work, i clicked my 2014 SR5 into 4Lo, and just eased into the gas pedal. a little slippage here, a little slippage there, but always forward progress...i love it.


now im waiting for some REAL snow to hit...

just got back from a 2400 KM road trip down to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. was a bit odd join south to do some snowboarding, but a fun trip none the less... Unfortunately there wasn't much time for wheeling, that mountain is huge and we didn't waste a second exploring it. Only got 2 pictures of the 4Runner;

Seriously thought about welding, but didn't want to melt back powder coating. My idea was to epoxy the pieces together and screw them, seal them with silicone, and then coat with a flex paint and blend.
Man, now that I say it out loud - I should have welded it! ��

I noticed when i'm in 4lo that I hear a whirring sound almost like the driveline. I've had it in 4lo before but couldn't ever remember this sound before (but I was a the beach with music playing, etc). Ever hear any 'different' sounds when you were in 4lo?

In 4 low there is a 2.5:1 gear reduction, you are probably hearing the gear noise/whine due to the reduction.

I just installed mine too. Plus their first (!!) Official ladder that I've had ordered for awhile. Got the Sunroof insert, tire mount and additional clamps. It's a good long setup, but leaves me wanting a snorkel :/
