Had Toytec Boss 3"/2" Suspension lift, Light Racing UCR's, TRDP wheels and LT285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's installed by the guys at Desert Rat in Mesa, AZ.
What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I kept it stock size.
Looking good. So what do you think about the lift and how does the truck drives now comparing to stock?

So far there is a very minor amount of rub in the inside of both front wheel wells at full turn. Rides much better than OEM so far. Very little tire noise until after about 65mph, then they are only a little louder than the OEM tires. Lift seems to eliminate body roll and nosedive for the most part.
It really just depends upon whether your current lugs will work. When I did the swap I was going from cheesy 20" gangsta rims on z rated tires. They held the road well for sure, but I wanted sine offroad squish room. I suspect stock yota lugs would work.

Thanks for info. What air pressure were you running? I had mine set to the specs on the door and didn't have any wandering yet. (although our freeways in the Phoenix area are much nicer than yours in SoCal)
Where were the tires wearing funny? I will keep an eye out.
I was going to take the TRDPRO wheels back after you mentioned it the other day but Toyota was going to charge a 15% restocking fee.
I asked the guys at Desert Rat where they set the camber and toe in at for the alignment. He said they set to factory specs. I have to wonder if the alignments are a cause for tire wear on some builds (not saying your build or anyone else in particular) as there seams to be so many opinions on the site as to where everything should be set.
Like I said, I bought the first one :laugh: I don't know if it's up on their website yet, but email them and John Gjatta should be able to take care of you. As with many other people that I've read reviews from, my experience with Baja Racks was great. A lot of quick communications if I had any issues or questions. They test fitted this ladder on their in house T.E. 4r, so we were quite certain of the fit and it is very snug, firm, secure and light! My lift shocks hold up the door easily.
Install is a breeze, once you know how it's supposed to go together. I had some issues understanding the instructions and took matters into my own hands, found my own way to do it then discovered that was how it was designed to go together - the instructions have since been updated for clarity, I think. :rtfm:
It's very solid and I'm very happy with it. Having it as an extra handle to grab the lift gate from is extremely handy also. AFAIK the price is $215. Being able to walk right up onto my rack made it a no brainer for me. Neighbor kids love it too.
I did add some silicon inside the seams that fit around the door (and fit very well!) just to make sure over a long period of time my paint is safe. But I installed the ladder before it was fully cured, so it made a twinkie mess. That's OK, because this is probably still the cleanest it will ever be :laugh:
So, anyone know a good source for a snorkel?

Wasn't today as I'm working, but I added some simple step bars to the 2015 Trail.

--in other news, I hit the old sliders with another coat of primer and bedliner, added my LEDs onto the 15. Hoping to get the sliders bolted up and my HID kit in the projectors before weeks end.

I saw you pulled that stuff off. I was actually surprised the impound let you do that! Is that normal? I wanted to pull some stuff off my old toy pickup when they totaled it out and they wouldn't let me. I ended up buying the truck back.

I am aware of the difference on the website. I actually saw the in-store brochure with my own eyes. Time will tell i guess. All things aside I would prefer an 8" TRDP wheel if it were available.

Went with door air to start, began to notice wear in center of tire. Takes about 5k before My tires wore enough to see anything visible. Aired them down about 5 lbs, then started to notice a slight uneven wear on edge of tires. I was done, realized their was a reason Nitto says 7.5 min on a 285 tire.
You'll notice a difference in how much better the vehicle tracks when you ultimately go to a wider wheel. As you drive down the highway the truck is very touchy, winds, passing truck, angle in road and the truck will drift slightly. It's not something that will make you feel uncomfortable, in fact it took some time before I really noticed it.
TRDP wheels are still in big demand, I get people asking if I have mine weekly. 8" version coming soon if you don't mind taking the hit.

WHA?????? Have a credible source on this? I'm pondering the TRDP Black 17x7"s now, but would much prefer a 17x8" with a bit more offset.

you mean that there's an 8" version of the TRD Pro wheels coming out? that's absolutely loony. what, did someone open a window and let some fresh air into TRD's offices? after a couple months of sales, they come to their senses and realize the "Pro" shouldn't come stock with narrower wheels than the Trail?
