What is the flat wide bracket on the right with the SR-Q?

I'm looking for options for top mounted rear facing lights without a rack and have had no such luck.

Oh god, Ill I can think about is those bikes flopping side to side as you drive over the rocks. Do you get any side to side play in those mounts?

I am trying to decide whether to go hitch mount or roof mount on my new to me 2010 sr5. I have a yakima roof mount on my wife's forester at the moment, but it secures the bike with the tires, rather than the skewers or through axle. The rack flexes a ton if there is any body roll, like pulling out of a drive way.

Actually, the thru axle is pretty solid. Coming down, I was driving pretty fast and it's secure and solid. I don't recommend the non-thru axle as there's more flex side to side. I used to have the high roller,like the convenience but not as solid. Would never take it to theses trails. The only downside to roof is its kinda of a pain to mount and dismount unless your 6'2" and taller. I'm still planing to get the 1up bike hitch mount, they should be a lot more solid then my holdup 2

so anyone have any input on if I can get this buffed and repainted or do I need to replace the rear spoiler since its plastic?

the left side that is scraped does seems a tad bit loose compared to the right side, but its still solid.
