Bruce Elfstrom showed up when we were doing our OEX training and said to be very careful putting that much weight up there when you are doing serious wheeling...just sayin...

Saw a JKU with a roof top tent and Jerry Cans on his roof go up on 2 wheels and damn near flop going up the wall on Poughkeepsie Gulch. His buddies with the same line and similar vehicles had no such drama.

Finally got my new upper coil over mounts from Icon. I haven't weighed the new vs old mount, but the calipers confirm all of the dimensions are the same, only visible difference is the top bolt isn't fully threaded.

I noticed a significant difference when I added the Gobi, and when I lifted it onto the roof I didn't think it was that heavy. It made me very reluctant to add more weight; I don't want the handling to suffer.

When I did the training, they had us fail a hill. I had to do it and then Pat followed me in the same 4Runner, but his had armor, a front bumper, winch, all kinds of recovery gear. At the time I didn't even have the Gobi. Anyway, at the top of the hill, right before I failed it, when it was still in drive, it just sat on the hill. When they had Pat do the same thing, he was rolling back. Same 4Runner, totally different gear.

That made an impression on me I won't soon forget. It was an important lesson.

Very nice. Roof mount? I ordered 3 50" 300 ones a few weeks back, one for the truck, one for the sandrail (RIP), and one for the fun of it.
Sandrail couldn't handle 300w load added to the system and mounts were too wide for my roof rack.
Got a 36" one today, installed it while waiting for my bro to be ready to wheel, and installed the wiring harness on the road. My switch is too large for the toyota openings, so it's taped to the a pillar right now, but after some aiming I'm very happy with it. Now I know what my hood looks like at night!
The wires get too hot to hold after awhile. Concerns me a little. Might need to go to a heavier gauge, but it's supposed to be rated for 40 amps.

Wheeled for the first time in awhile. Wanted to find water in the chiva falls area of if Reddington road. No water, a little mud. Slashed a sidewall in my cooper at3, and was very happy to have a high lift and sliders to jack the truck from. Hope the warranty covers something on that tire, but in fairness, I've never driven it so hard before.

Anyone know if there have been any drop brackets made for the static side of the KDSS system to balance out things with a lift? I think a good 3" billet spacer would level things out just right. Am I late to the party on this?

Yes it's roof mounted, but in those pics its on my BBQ being powered by a battery.

Performed my 40k mile maintenance, which included greasing my driveshafts. I have been greasing the driveshafts every 10k miles since new, and am "driveshaft clunk" free! This is the first Toyota BOF vehicle I have owned that hasn't had that annoying clunk, and I intend to keep it that way!

BTW, Race Ramps are the S***!

Got the front adjusted a little higher, so now I only have 1" Rake. Front is just over 3 inches. Took off roof rack, and I think I'll keep it like this till I order a Gobi. Also removed front mud flaps, and trimmed the back mudflap's.

Got some new shoes on today. FN countersteer type X in gunmetal with K02's and also installed the awning. Pretty happy about it all. Hopefully I can tackle the front end 2014+ conversion tomorrow.
