What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Took my son camping with a couple other dads and their sons. Given their stock SUVs we were in a campground, only the second time in like three years for me, ugh. It was as miserable as I remember, generators, drunks across the way, and the worst vault toilet I have ever smelled in my life.

The boys had fun, the beer was cold and I snuck in a short stint off-road. The trail I really wanted to do turned me back with a water crossing I couldn't see the bottom of, figured it was probably fine but I don't take those risks.

24 hours into picking up my 5th gen, TEP. LED interior light upgrade complete. Now if my HID headlight and LED foglight kits would show up, that'll be next. Lift and TRD Pro wheels to follow very soon.

Did you notice any change in the interior lights dimming behavior? I mean with stock bulbs the dome light does not turn off at once but dims nicely. I wonder if that circuit is affected when all LEDs are used instead incandescent bulbs. This is the only "unknown" that is holding me up from "investing" over 50 bucks in LED bulbs.

You're probably the only guy ever to hesitate to upgrade his interior bulbs. Also, you can find a kit for less than $20.

RysiuM I haven't encountered any issues thus far. Granted, I only installed them last night. Thus far, I can report that they dim properly/expect that they will continue to do so.

Mine dim, but maybe not as dim as the "incandescent " but I knew this I just don't run the rear where my son sits

He, he, I have "doubled the value" of my 95 Tacoma 4x4 by replacing every bulb with LED (I kept incandescent H4 in Hi/Lo beams and 4 blinkers). I mean every single bulb including instrument cluster and even bulbs inside AC and flasher switches. My truck is "eco-green" now :wink2:
After all dashboard bulbs were replaced I had to design and make my own "electronic dimmer adapter" so original rheostat now dims all cluster LEDs in full range (without load resistor). Long story and lot of fun.

Now back to 4Runner, kit for $20 - hmmm.. depends what is in the "kit". What I'm looking at is:
- 2 bulbs in tailgate
- 1 bulb in the center dome
- 2 bulbs in reading/map lights
- 2 bulbs in visor lights
(in my SR5 I don't have door lights what saves me from extra 4 bulbs)
plus outside:
- 2 bulbs in mirrors
- 2 bulbs above license plate

so total I'm looking at 11 bulbs - I would love to buy decent 60+ lumens bulbs for 2 dollars or less, but no luck so far. I've seen some for $4.50 or so a piece so this is where I saw 50 dollars expense. If you guys know better source, I beg to let me know.:help:

I bought a full LED light set for $17 on Ebay with free shipping.

The biggest pain was removing the map lights.

Fifty bucks?! I think I spent half that on Amazon. No dimming issues.

I got it from trailduty.com only because they had the whole kit I wanted. Gobi rack, latter, wind deflector and Rigid light bar. I want to say the whole thing was like $2400. The wait was the rough part. Ordered 6/19 and just got it installed on 8/28.

I installed mine on my bumper and like where they turned out. How do you like them in that location? I thought about putting another set where my fogs sit in my arb bumper for added light.
