What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Replaced driver's side wheel bearing hub AGAIN because, dumbass that I am, didn't know you should replace the dust seal on the upright as well. Soooo, my 20k mile wheel bearing went bad.

I had great luck today! 3 YAY's!

#1- Took off the ABS bracket to make pressing-in the seal easier and the bolt snapped in half. Had to drill/tap that for 1.5 hrs. YAY!

#2- After the install, I still have bearing noise. Hmmmm. Called [MENTION=99235]Scott@Hightech[/MENTION] and he filled me in on the fact that sometimes wheel bearings only make noise when NOT under load. Told me how to confirm this (jack up truck and run in 4WD listen for noise) and yup. Passenger wheel bearing bad too/ making noise. YAY!

#3- And...check out this little gem of a video. The cap is supposed to fit VERY tightly. HA! Bearing guy said I'm the first one ever to have this issue. They should be sending me a replacement hub so I can do this all over again. YAY!

There's 1 seal behind the upright that the CV passes through.

plasti'd up the front badge and added some yella lenses. it should come together much better once the rest of the grill is dip'd how I'm planning. Can you choose texture on line-x yet? Some grit could possibly be ok but I haven't seen much done with it yet on a 4Runner besides on rockers. Still new to the forum so I'm sure as I explore I'll spot it. I'll also be looking into the lift/warranty issue as my local dealership said they'll only do the trd bilsteins with springs for $1699. not installed. What is everyone else doing, blowing their warranties? also looking for a good recommendation on a lift that isn't large and levels the truck out. Not a fan of the dipping nose

Your Plasti dip looks nice. I'm thinking of wrapping the silver bumper valances in matte black vinyl. I would talk to Joe at Chi-town 4x4 about a lift. I did my lift with bilstein 6112/5100 and I'm happy. Dealer said the only thing that isn't covered under warrenty are the new parts I installed.

Did a little lighting upgrade. Put Xenon Depot 9005 replacement LEDs in my 2015 TEP. I had trouble getting them to work at first. The LEDs require a Canbus Adapter so that they don't flicker. The wires on the male plug needed to be switched because sometimes the polarity is different in Toyotas. Easy fix, just need a small screwdriver to move the tabs holding the wires in. There's no way to use DRL mode after putting them in because they are way too bright for oncoming traffic, but the output/spread when used as high beams is not what I was hoping for. You can see from the picture below that there isn't a huge difference, at least not to me (top pic is the LEDs). Photo was taken at the same spot and distance. Not being able to use the DRL might be a deal breaker for me as there are a ton of mandatory headlight use areas around me, so having DRLs helps me avoid getting a ticket. Not sure if that's a VA/MD thing or what, but they're all over.

Took it for a drive to check out a '16 Tacoma today. I had no intention of trading it in, I just really wanted to see the new Tacomas. The 4runner is superior in every way.

I wouldn't say they're superior in EVERY way. They're for different purposes and applications. I loved my Tacoma but with a family it wasn't something that had enough interior room. I love my new 4Runner but I did have to get a small trailer for those times when I need to haul stuff

that truck is sittin perty. pretty much exactly the stance I'm looking for. maybe hitting you up with some ??'s when it's go time for me. I had more than a few people say the wrapping up front sucks because you can't really touch up the dings. I'll be wrapping my rack rails next, but I'm definitely dipping the front and rear bumpers. we'll see how long that lasts because next is line-x

Person infront of me stuck their head out of their window and had a hilarious look on their face as I took the turn to order. Ha! Guess I should work on fixing that.

Not to just randomly disagree, the hauling bulk compost for a garden is much more pleasant when it's in the back of a truck instead of the back of an SUV. That (and hauling bulk topsoil, bulk mulch, large furniture, etc.) is the only thing I really miss about my pickup.
