What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

I woke up at 4am and drove from North Carolina back to my home in Massachusetts. About 880 miles in 14 hours.

Just for fun, my friend Judy and I decided to go to the Carolina Renaissance Festival and visit a few friends for the weekend. It was fun but man, I'm getting too old for those long @$$ road trips.

My SR5 after two months of ownership it finally lost its off-roading virginity. I took it out to a spot in Lincoln CA referred to me by [MENTION=124049]keyser_soze[/MENTION]. We are planning on meeting out there sometime soon I but I could wait to go check it out.

So where in Lincoln is that? I drive through Lincoln quite often but can't place where you took those pictures. North/East maybe?

Replaced the stock 20s and purchased some small claws so my Yakima Railgrabs will fit.

I agree. What's funny is the dealership was acting like this has never been done/requested before. I was highly encouraged to not put 17s on the vehicle. :lmao:

Curious what their justification was? I can think of one reason besides the whole big wheel/low profile tire look, which to each his own on that...

It is east of 65. you exit on twelve bridges rd and then head about 2 miles east, then make a right on Eastridge Dr. The place is at the end of the road.

Well I Hauled (12) 2x6x8, (4) bags of sand, and (6) patio bricks and suprised the weight took me down an inch in back. Glad for the factory
rack. Do say i used to load as much in my 08 trail blaser and not drop that much.

Common issue with the Yota's, subpar leaf springs but hey it could have worse issues, right? Get some airbags if you plan to haul often enough to warrant them, IMO. I had the Tundra and put 22 bags of much in the bed, it looked like I was headed out to the dunes to Baja! I put some air bags in it and called it a day, worked great. There is a good article in the Tundra talk website on how to rig the fill valve by your gas cap if you don't want to go with an on board compressor to, fyi. Let me know and I can try to find it for you.

I think it was a little of both the potential reduction in resale value (people looking for limited might specifically want the 20s) along with a general lack of understanding tire circumference. They thought it wouldn't fill the wheel well as much as stock and that it would drastically affect my speedometer/odometer. BTW, tires are 265/70/17 Duratracs.

That's not too far from the old Titan missile silos I don't think you can actually get out to the silos though.

3-Did the rear diff breather mod. I routed the cable up to the taillight area- no holes to drill (Details in my thread).

That's not too far from the old Titan missile silos I don't think you can actually get out to the silos though.

I didn't even know we had missile silos in Lincoln. Crazy. It is pretty fun. lots of good hills to climb. I have only went that one time but I will be going back.

Ditch the spacers and actually upgrade your springs.

Forgive my ignorance, why cant you just reuse the breather that's mounted to your axle? It's doing the same job just at the end of a hose is it not?

Because the breather mounted onto the axle is only one-way. The reason it's called a breather mod is that the one-way valve is replaced with a 2-way valve and is routed higher (as the 2 way could suck in water on its own). The factory one-way valve likely won't suck in water on it's own, but will create negative pressure in the diff which could then suck in water through the seals.

Made trip #4 to DiscountTire today to again try to rebalance the new KO2 275's. Manager and I both think at least one, maybe two tires will have to be replaced. One slightly out of round (still within spec, but causing vibration at 75mph+), the other just won't stay balanced for more than the time it takes to put back on truck and drive 10 miles down the road.
Tomorrow's will serve as final test, as they act the worst when the tires are warm. Commuting 68 miles each way to work on the interstate is providing a good test bed for them at least.

I ran into this as well with my wheel and tires. Apparently there is an adapter plate or whatever that they need to put on the balancing machine before balancing a toyota wheel or wheel going on a toyota. The discount tire I was using didnt have it so eventually they sent me to a different one and no more problems after that.
