A little snow and ice today in Salem, Oregon. Decided to learn how to put my cable chains on and off. Found they are a little too big and the tighteners barely kept tension on them. It was a good practice session in case I have to do it on the side of the road.
A little steep the last 10 feet into the shop, found that 2wd and cables slipped if I stopped and tried to start up again. If I kept rolling slowly, it was OK. Tried in 4wd without cables and it went up just fine.
I think I'm ready for a trip to Mt. Hood and Sisters later this week.

I grounded mine to my front runner roof rack and then ran power down the driver side windshield. There is a space along the side of the windshield that is just big enough for a large Guage wire to fit in snuggly. Then the power wire heads right into the engine bay. Also once it comes up the windshield it then runs under the rain gutter to where it pops out at the roof rack. So it is pretty hidden until it comes out to the light bar.

you have any more pics of the gobi rack? it looks like you went with the same options i want (with sunroof opening, removable cross bars, 40" light bar ready).
i have yet to see pics of what the top looks like with the full mesh platform under the removable cross bars + sunroof opening... thanks!
also, if you dont mind... could you (or anyone) tell me what the added height is at the tallest point at the front of the stealth rack?

That's my dream mid-life-crisis vehicle pair for after the kiddo's are grown. A Miata (or similar-sized roadster convertible) for commuting and the mountain twisties plus a 4Runner for winter driving, hunting, and exploring off-pavement. I've driven part of the Dragon in my 4Runner (took Parson's Branch road out of Cade's Cove). I'd love to go back with a sportier vehicle.
Unfortunately I still have a 6-year-old in a booster, so a 2-seat vehicle is a long ways out. :shrug:
ETA: Oh and to stay on topic, yesterday I replaced the OE Panasonic battery. Kinda bummed it went out after only 49 months. Wow, batteries have seriously gone up in price and down in warranty since I last bought one! Used an online coupon and a rebate to get an Advanced Auto Parts store brand 24F for $95 OTD.

Picked up a fine specimen of a 1988 Mohawk canoe!
Do yourself a favor and get a set (or two) of these for the hood... will save your paint from rub mark via the rope.

I use two, one on each side of the hood, bungee the thwarts to the crossbars, and then tie the back to the trailer receiver... done. also if you want to protect your paint you can put some clear 3M film down.

I did a little rcing as well the other day. I at least got my 4runner in the background to attempt to make it forum worthy. My front diff did not take to being drenched in what like my traxxas have in the past. Had to clean it and regreass it today.
