Do the install yourself? I have been thinking about this lately. Are Katzkin seats real leather or synthetic, or a mix?

Did it myself. It was a pretty big undertaking. Took all weekend. About 14 hours of pure work time.

I'm really happy with the results.

Katzkin is a mix of real leather and synthetic leather. Their website does a pretty good job of showing you which panels are which. You can upgrade to get more leather content if you wish.

Not necessarily 'today' but over the last couple of days:

Installed my new Katzkin leather interior and heated seats. I had cloth seats in my base Trail. Now my goal of having a Trail premium without the sunroof is basically complete. ; )

As you can see, I picked out some custom colors - black 'wrap', smoke perforated inserts, and red contrast stitching. I think it looks quite OEM, which is what I was going for. You can see in a few of the pictures the comparison between the factory black softex and red stitched center console and the new leather seats.

I think it's a good match.

Nice! I have Katzkin leather in mine as well. Do you have any photos of the bottom part of your rear seat? Mine seems to have slipped off and I'm trying to figure out how to get the bottom cover off to sort it all out.

I don't but I'll try and snap a pic soon and take a close look. It seems the front and sides of the bottom of the rear seats snapped on with long plastic channels. But, they were the first ones I did so I've now forgotten.

Thanks. That info might be all that I need. I wasn't sure if they had hog rings or anything of that sort on the rear seat bottoms. I'll likely remove the bottom cover piece and see if I can get it reseated.

I got my Gobi ladder installed just before the weekend snow trip. Since I bought it used and the supplied adhesive strips were shot, I used 3M extreme fasteners (aka badass Velcro) to secure the ladder top plate and the lower attachment point instead of double sided adhesive. The weight rating is the same as the 3M extreme double sided tape, but this allows me to remove the ladder if I need to by unbolting the lower bracket and pulling it off. So far so good! No flexing or moving while climbing!

It even makes badass turbo charged Jeeps look more badass in the rear view...

Well while my friends on the east coast were snowed in and it was absolutely amazing here in Denver. I did some paint touch up, pounded my transmission skid straighter than it was and even got a full round of fluid changes. Started mapping out my spring time wiring project as I need to add my compressor and back up lights in the CBI bumper. :bravo::bravo:

Oh then I watched my two favorite teams in the world win to go to the super bowl... Do I wear the Broncos jersey and Carolina hat, or my Broncos hat and Carolina jacket???? Either way my team wins!

Hopefully this will minimize the dog hair on the black carpet a bit. Downside is I need to modify these to have access to my cargo tie downs.

Very observant. Wasn't planned that way. The light pockets do have lights, just bad angle. As for winch, that'll come later.

Winter Trout Fishing

Escaped for the day and hit the Metolius River solo for some winter Trout fishing. Temp around 27 in the morning, warming to mid 40s by lunch. Plenty of snow and ice around to test the runner once you got downriver. Couldn't get it stuck, but tried a few times. Sunny day on the river and nobody around but the fish. Love the remote feature on my Canon 6d and iPhone...

Started my own thread

Got my Ohio plates finally and put them on.
I also bought a blank metal license plate frame, and dropped on those free letters Toyota sent me a while back to have a custom license plate frame. Kudos to anyone who can get the reference without having to use a Wiki!


I also spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how to convince EnTune Navigation that I needed to assign it a new home address since I've moved. On this I failed horribly, and my "Go Home" button now involves a 12+hr trip to Oklahoma. At least I have Waze.

Tomorrow (or later today since it's like 2am) 40k service and minor gripes visit to the stealership.
