Start here. You will find all the mods and tips info you could ever dream of. You can research the different bumpers. Also you can use the search. Type in 5th gen bumper. There will be lots of great info on after market bumpers. Welcome to the forum.

I wanted a rack that fit on the factory roof rack rails, couldn't find anything. So I took this aluminum basket I bought on amazon and modified it to this.
Lots of cutting to make it work, but it turned out good.
Amazon.com: 50"x38" Aluminum Roof Basket Cargo Carrier Rack Car Top Luggage with Cross Bars: Automotive

This is a great idea! I see you cut notches in the side rails of this rack to allow it to recess a little bit. How did you attach the rack to your OEM cross rails?

I just ordered a set of Black Level 8 mk6 for my 4Runner. They are a -10 offset which to my understanding will help push the whee out and away from the control arm. Has anyone had problems running a negative offset with tire clearances?

Tried out Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax.

Amazing product. Washed the 4Runner in the garage using a 2 bucket system & a few microfibers.

Very pleased with the results.

What size tires? I have 17x8.5 -6 tko and rub with my 265s atp's just a lil bit , way less than the 275 ko2s so you will have to cut the fender liners and remove the secondary mudflaps from front wheel wheals

And what really ticks me off that all companies (I don't mean "China noname" but brands like Philips or Osram-Sylvania) keep putting 6000+K LED chips in their LED Fog Lights. Absolutely stupid. Look at the description from Philips:

"Philips X-tremeVision LED Fog lamps' bright white 6000K color temperature gives your fog lights the perfect color match for today's high performance headlights".

:wtf: Philips ??? Fog lights are for is safety, not a fashion.

Human eyes have evolved to see best at noon on a sunny day which translates to a color temperature of 5000⁰ Kelvin. A color temperature of 5000K greatly reduces driver fatigue and increases terrain recognition. BD exclusively uses 5000K LEDs to ensure the safest and highest performing driving experience.

Today's mission was pretty pedestrian. The goal was to figure out how to comfortably store necessary gear, (emergency, rain gear, etc), in the cargo area with the rear seat up as that is our dog Skyler's territory.

Was able to fit a Gransfors Bruk small forest axe and Bahco Laplander saw under the sliding cargo deck. The rest of the gear, folding shovel, small Granfors Bruk hatchet, large blades by Becker Knife & Tool and RAT/ESEE, tarp / space blanket, roadside emergency kit, headlamp, first-aid kit etc was relegated to heavy cordura sports bags, daypack or their own box as necessary.

While I much prefer my new 4Runner to my old 2002 Eddie Bauer Explorer, the Explorer was very amenable to stowing gear. (But not so much to reliable 4WD.)

Anyway, got 'er done and now it's time to pick somewhere to ride. :hat:

Edit to add: Just ordered the cargo cover (PT311-89100) which, imho, probably should have come with the vehicle as it did with the Explorer. But c'est la vie. I hate leaving possessions exposed to those with prying eyes.

I put on a set of bronze Ambit 18's with 275/65/18 Toyo OC AT2s. And I also blacked out my emblems.

i was thinking about yellow fogs this morning...do they actually do a better job in foggy situations, or is it simply cosmetic?

yes, just like with camera filters you can make lights more effective in certain conditions by running a filter.

Red covers are designed to reduce light temperature and glare back in order to enchance penetration in dust and air particulate.
Yellow is designed for foggy conditions by reducing the amount of blue light.
Blue covers increase the light distance when used in snow by reflecting the blue light off the snow.

Re: the LED post above, I just put a number of 5,000 K LED bulbs (BR30) in our three bathrooms at my wife's request. I couldn't believe the huge difference from 2700K (warmer / yellow) light. Of course, on the flip side, I didn't like seeing what was in the mirror either! :brushteeth: :tape2:

got my new tires

My Nitto 285 75 17 Trail Grapplers arrived today :)
It will be a little while before i mount them.
Need to install the Icon Stage 7 first and do the BMC and maybe even wait for my Schrockworks bumpers, but we are getting there.

I don't want to turn it into light color war, but some facts should be cleared out. All true, the 5-6K lights appear brighter to the human eye, and help with identifying colors and shapes. However this is very bad in fog condition as the fog reflects the light and therefore the fog will appear brighter effectively blinding the driver. Lower color temperature light of course will be reflected by the fog exactly the same way as any other color light (the particle theories don't work here) but the reflection will not appear that bright and will create much less fatigue for the driver.

Just so I am clear: I am not talking about the "light penetration" (it all sucks in fog anyway) but the fatigue on human eye and ability to recognize other objects surrounded by light reflecting fog.

I would agree with this. Reflected light in fog sucks. Brighter reflected light would suck even more. :painkiller:

farted around with mounting 40" bar onto the Gobi and some pods too. Light bar is about 3/8" too long for the supplied Gobi brackets :/ soooo I'll find a mill and get a little taken off the brackets. Also don't love the look of the pods for the back, thinking some 6" single rows would be better, and looking for other brackets for some roof rack mounted ditch/alley lights (if anyone has some input here . . . ).

plus need new antenna mount - the list grows.

I really just need some trail time - big sur next weekend shmaybe.

I'm going to run the factory Firestone 265s for awhile until I purchase a lift and at that point would like to move up to a 275.

I just bought some carriage bolts from HomeDepot, they fit right into the rail on the factory rack.
