Swapped out a couple more lights with LED

Someone mentioned this long time ago, but sure looks like the licence light housings are indeed factory-installed incorrectly, judging by the R in left position and L housing on the right side. Also, the lights point away from the plate, not toward it.

Let my wife drive it, it was snowing and I suggested she not go out, she needed a shopping fix. She said she passed a van spun out and three other cars trying to get up the hill spinning away. I guess she didn't have any trouble, and that is why I have a Limited.

Actually, if you really look at the lights they are tilted towards the plate. They are only pointed away if you feel the majority if light is emitted from the tip of the halogen bulb.

The bigger issue is that there isn't a reflector in there. If there were, much more of the light would be directed towards the plate.

Now with some LEDs, a lot of the light is emitted from the end of the bulb. In those cases, it would be beneficial to swap the housings to the opposite side. Unfortunately I don't believe there is enough wire to allow for this.

Drove to Folsom Lake again. What a pleasant surprise: there is actually lake over there.
Looks like these couple weeks of rain did the trick and filled up the reservoir over 50% its capacity.

The last time I was there the lake was dry to 17% total capacity. People were actually boating where this picture was taken:

I gotta get out there and check it out. I'm just over in roseville. Last time I was there it was crazy how low the water was.

Went out to Guadalupe Mountains and did some off-road exploring. Let my wife drive and she somehow went straight into a couple of small boulders. She felt so bad but I wasn't mad at all. It was bound to happen.

Any guesses on cost of repairing the damage? I haven't taken it to a body shop yet.

You can't repair that plastic, you will need to replace the entire cover. Call the dealership and ask them for a price.

just smooth out that rough part, buff it out as much as possible, and touchup the scrapes with a paint pen and roll with it until you get more damage.

I figured the entire bumper would need to be replaced. Maybe time for aftermarket bumper....:hungry:

Just got them about a week ago. Tires are the same size. The M/Ts just looked bigger.

The black wheels seemed to get lost in the tires. I really like the looks of the gun metal and the easy to clean design of the MK6's. Plus with the weight savings of the tires, I have gained back almost 2 mpg. Very pleased with the new set up.

Back to Everglades NP - PIC HEAVY

Yesterday actually…we went back out to Everglades National Park. Got a few animals and did some pre-running on the few trails that are out there. Nothing that even required 4WD, but I went through all the motions anyway - gotta keep that stuff in use!

got 4 OME rear spacers from Total Automotive delivered today. looking foward to getting those slapped on.

Finally got around to getting some lights installed. Up on the gobi I have a 17.2" then 2 x 6" next to it. 2 more 6" in the rear and ditch lights on the CBI brackets.

Most likely will be swapping out the 2 x 6" on the front for 2 x 10". All of the lights are chinese knock offs, can't justify the cost of rigids when I only need the lights a bunch of times a year (maybe in the future).

Rear Diff Breather Mod

After a year of my parts sitting in the garage I finally got around to installing the rear diff breather mod. And while I was add it my mechanic decided we should remove the lower plastic valance to better expose the factory recovery points.

Saturday & Sunday

Saturday I installed the Schrockworks dual battery tray & relocated the air pump.
Sunday I started working on the wiring upgrade from bumper2bumper. Ran in to a few issues and working with Bill to straighten it out. Removed the alternator which was fun, had to take the tire off to get to the bolt in the rear of the alternator.

Saturday night my girlfriend and I learned how quickly we could egress a campsite by simply collapsing our tent, with sleeping bags, pillows and delfated air mattress still inside, and shoving in the back of the truck.

Misjudged the weather and were under-prepared for how cold it got.
