Installed Gobi Stealth toolbox so I could access it from standing on rear of passenger side slider. It's an easy install IF you don't do what I did.
Before I put the rack on the roof, I installed the spare tire carrier right in the middle. So it's in the way of the tool box. Since the rack is really close to the roof, I loosened the driver side bolts on the rack completely, and loosened the passenger side bolts, leaving them connected to the nuts to preserve alignment. Lifted up the loose side of the rack, held it up with a soft tool bag, removed the bolts of the tire carrier, reversed my steps and put the rack back together.
Oh. Can't reach the bolts for the tool box now (the rack is really close to the roof), so did the same darn thing over again. :doh: :faint:
But now it's done. Photos to follow. The toolbox is my secondary recovery gear-- chains, cable, shackles, etc. Strap, gloves, slider accessory for jack, large shackle reside in a soft side tool bag behind back seat.

Drove up some shale back country paths, and pinstriped the shit out of my truck. Worth it.
Will SOMEBODY teach me to take cool pictures like this? Dammit.:crybaby:

My favorite shots you've posted, cuz they show your awesome truck in its natural habitat. Great stuff.
What did I do? Put 120ish pavement miles on the truck this weekend to and from the mtns, BUT took my kids down the hardest ski run they have done yet, my 5yr old girl dominated, she's going to be a scary good skier... I'm nervous.
Just so this old man (turned 40 last week) could show I still have it, hiked to the top of a bowl to ski down it. (There is lift access, but I didn't bother with that)

Nothing says pull me over like a bottle opener mounted to the hatch! Everyone knows you mount these to the steering wheel so you can open your bottle without having to stop

Anza Borrego Desert State Park
Just got back from a weekend 4 wheeling in Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Not very many wildflowers yet. They need more rain out there. Drove up a rocky ravine at the end of Coyote Canyon in 4 wheel low. A-track not required. The stream crossings were small and shallow this year, but I'm glad I finished my Scuba Mod before this trip..
Hiked up Cougar Canyon, a very rugged steep climb along the stream where only a bighorn sheep could find solid footing. Drove out Rockhouse Road to Burton Trail. This trail would be better on a cool day or early in the morning.

Well thanks to a kind reminder from Facebook, I realized I bought my 4Runner 4 years ago today. Since I never really get to see it any more due to being deployed all over the world (I've driven it 11 months in the last 3 years) doesn't mean i don't enjoy it any less. Also means I don't have any recent adventure pictures, so I'm posting the one of my first time ever wheeling because it was some of the most fun I've ever had in this thing.
