Schrockworks bumpers, sliders & skids are due here at the end of the month.
did the toytec diff drop on Sunday, it was super easy and only took 45 minutes.
I also have some wiring jobs to fit in there somewhere.

Yea the closest thing I can compare it to is pottery clay. That stuff filled up the tires and just didn't want to come out, pretty much a slip and slide for a good portion of the day. We wanted mud and went right after a long night of rain. Next time we are going to go when it's dry so we can make it all the way up to the lookout (tundra got stuck OTW and killed our time getting him out) and around the rest of the park.
Also realized I need a bit more recovery gear, we just made it with what we had (2 tow straps, 1 recovery strap and 1 shackle). Need some more shackles, tree saver and maybe another tow strap for longer reach to trees.
Any suggestions for other spots to check out in the park or other?

North Rim Grand Canyon
Did a little run this last weekend to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. 272 miles off road (made me think of the thread talking about how far off road you have really driven with no opportunity for fuel) and 1090 total miles traveled. 7 vehicles, 5 Tundras and two 4Runners. Started outside of Mesquite NV, 120 miles first day, 90 the 2nd day with some backtracking to our first campsite, and then 62 to get out somewhere East.
Second time I've been to the Grand Canyon, never wanted to go back after the first trip - south side, super touristy, was raining, couldn't see anything. Anyway. . .
This has been one of the most amazing places I've been now. Incredible trip. 4Runner ran like a dream, I hesitate to mod it, but I think 33's and going long travel will be in my future. Mostly for comfort and keeping up with the Tundras that i've been wheeling with.
Just before reaching Toroweep Lookout, about 120 miles this 1st day.

I've got heaps more pics!
Most of the crew met up in Mesquite Thursday Night, had some pizza then a little light night run to site about an hour away into Arizona on Lime Kiln Canyon RD.
Another Tundra and I met up in Mesquite the next morning at 9 (left at 230 am - long day of driving) to then cruise off to where everyone else was. Followed that road to off into I don't know where. But we ended at Toroweep Lookout! I was tail end charlie, so just followed the dust trails of everyone else, and my god there was dust.
Lots of fire road on the second day, only a little on the first. Its a BLM road, but not graded, had a few slow technical rock spots, and just some slow rock gardens, but mostly easy rolling, with nothing around. 2nd pic here you see how most of the trail was. Getting down to Toroweep was also "technical" but some guy in a Nissan Murano managed to get himself down most of it soooo yea.
I'll have to find out the roads and more info on the trails we took if you're interested. It was a great test for the range of the 4runner. I brought out 10 gal extra, but end of first day was only down 1/3. Tossed in 5gal the next morning (didn't have to) and didn't bother topping off again until we got back to a gas station, averaging 13 mpg on the trail.
The Tundras on the other hand are heavy gas guzzling pigs and each were down to their last 1/3 or less on the first day except for the guy with the TRD Pro Tundra - 36 gallon tank! They also are heavily loaded with bumpers, racks, RTT's, refrigerators, 35" tires, blah blah blah.
End result is, 4Runner stock will still kick ass! Some nature and truck porn for your pleasure.

Never realized how small the 4Runner really is. Even the 4th Gen is bigger.
Our fearless leader, being fearless, Toroweep was very "bouldery" on the point, where as Kanab was not and looked like it could crumble if you got too close.
An old school house that was rebuilt - the name fails me.
Cows all over, plenty of cattle guards, and gates to open and close all over. Second day at Kanab Pt. we hung out until the wind picked up something fierce, then rode into the night back to the first campsite - nothing else really around that wasn't wind swept. Damn cows were cruising just off the road and in it. They just stare into your soul.
Crazy country, wide open and really amazing.

Been wanting to get a RTT so I took the plunge and went with the ARB Simpson III. Thanks to Northridge 4x4 for great service and ridiculously fast, and free, shipping. The install was very interesting to be put lightly. Definitely difficult solo.
I had to figure out how to get it on the roof.

It was impossible for me to bolt the tent down to the crossbars so I had to remove crossbars, mount to tent then put on rack. I also had to cut off the end on the bolts after tightening because the contacted the mesh floor of the rack.

Which icon lift is this one. I've been looking at the stage 2 with a 3 inch lift and wanted to see what it would look like

I don't know what stage it is in particular, but I think it most closely resembles a stage 2. Here are the part numbers:

This was the most technical part and it wasn't very technical. Just for fun, i put it in 4lo and engaged all the little Trail do-hickies I never use, pretty fun, got tired of the noise pretty quick.

I wonder if there's any other way to mount a RTT by yourself.
Mine doesn't fit in the garage to drive in and I'm not that tall or strong to pick up and lift onto the rack....=/

Phase one picnic/camping insert
Started work on a picnic/camping unit that will include cooler and camp stove slide outs, plus a sleeping platform. The sleeping platform will be two pieces so the forward section can be left out for day trips. I'm thinking that a suspension upgrade may come sooner than later to handle the extra weight of all the extra stuff...
