I sawed off the top of my Baja Rack to make it a utility rack :happy:
(got the rack for $400 on Craigslist-that's why I didn't just buy a utility rack to begin with). Welded on some flat bar, and punched holes in it so I can attach two removable Kuat fork mounts. Now I can carry 4-6 bikes with the added Kuat hitch mount, or 2 kayaks. Since I was cutting/grinding the rack anyway, I had it powder coated an earthy grey that I thought looked good with the mag grey. Then I figured since it was there, I may as well have the wheels powder coated to match the rack. All makes sense, right? Got black lug nuts, and painted the center caps black to match. Pretty happy with the result. Also replaced all my interior/exterior bulds with [MENTION=12905]XenonDepot[/MENTION] replacements. Very easy to do, and very happy with that result, also! Big difference with the headlights especially while driving in to work this morning.
Incidentally-When cutting the rack up, I damaged the decal on the rack fairing. I sent an email to Baja Customer Service with a picture of what I did, and asked if I could buy a replacement. Within 2 business days, they shipped a replacement decal for free! I really appreciated that, and wanted to share with everyone.

I had the same problem. I had to tighten the other ones down, then slightly loosen to move the skid plate with a rubber mallet to shift it so hole lined up. After that it has always been where it needs to be after oil changes and removal.

It's the Tembo Loadspotter. And yes, it slides out, then swings down. All gas strut assisted, so it can move about 100+ pounds with one hand.

This is legitimately it in terms of mods, besides comms. I'll eventually wire up a HAM into the cabin, but besides that I'm calling it done. The goose gear setup was something I knew I needed, and finally pulled the trigger on.
That slider is amazing. I was talking with Clay from Expedition Overland, and he mentioned Tembo may stop production on them. So yes, they're very expensive, but they're very useful. My slider puts my fridge below the eyeline of my rear tire, yet when dropped down it's at waist level.
