I don't worry about the northern vehicle thing as long as the rust is minimal. I don't see these as collector vehicles and I probably will be driving a newer version or the next "great thing" in 3 or 4 years. If the rust magically accelerates, I'll sell it when it bothers me.

Dropped off the truck for some repairs after Mojave Road, as well as to be wired up for constant hot 12v in the back.

Shop and I decided to install a rocker switch in the back to be able to disconnect the 12V when not in use, to avoid power drain. Should be done in a few weeks in time for Moab.

Sweet! I'm pretty hard on floor mats and don't want to tear up the carpet underneath if I can avoid it. My buddy is a service manager at Mountain States and said he likes the Weather Tech ones better. Wish I had talked to him before I ordered these.
