What forest road is this? I went to Abiqua falls/Butte Falls this past weekend and worked my way back up toward Molalla on FS roads. Its a nice area to get lost in this time of the year.

This is in the southern Lake George region of upstate NY. Lots of old logging and jeep trails in the mountains. Heavily forested. Beautiful but scratchy.

They all scratch the same just the darker colors are more noticeable. When I wash my 4runner out in the sun(silver metallic) I can see all the swirls and pinstripes in certain angles. You will never see them if you weren't looking for them on those light colored trucks.

Out of sight out of mind I guess. I'll just have to stay on top of any deep gashes to avoid rust. This was never intended to be a mall crawler.

That is not retreat mode. The flag always flies in a forward motion, hence when placed on the right side of anything (uniform, vehicle, or aircraft), the flag will appear with the stars on the right as if it was charging ahead with the wind blowing the flag. When placed on the left, the stars will appear on the left.

Did you mean 285/75/17 or 285/70/17? 285/70/17 spares will fit in the stock location, according to several threads on here.. Also, at ~3/4" in diameter difference, I wouldn't run that spare on the rear axle, and only on the front for a short period of time, but that's just my opinion.

My Toyo's are 285/75R17, and while they should be 34 by any online calculator they are closer to 33 in my eyes.

The photo is a bit deceptive, because I lined up all tires out of frame to the left side to highlight the diameter difference. Hard to do with one hand. Ignoring the spec/reality difference above - that 3/4" you are eyeballing would actually be closer 3/8". As the tire's wear, it will get closer and closer.

Finally it's a spare. My main thickness wont fit underneath, and I'm not about to add a hundred lbs and spend $1500-2000 dollars for a bumper, or strap it to my roof over suspected fraction of an inch on a tire I hope to never use. It's meant to get me out out of the woods, YMMV.

Nice, yeah the pizza cutter is the way to go. I run 285/70 17 which are almost identical in diameter to the 255/80 17 spare, however, while not quite as good as a match the 285/75 17 with the spare still should be fine with minimal driving.
