Got word my truck is finally back from the body shop. Lets try not to get hit by angry bicyclists for a while.

So I had some dipshit rear end me while I was stopped at a red light, dented in the lift hatch pretty good, knocked the muffler loose from the supports, pushed out the rear right 1/4 panel plastic, dented my gobi ladder, general bumper damage, etc..... he gave me an insurance card but it was his moms and didn't list him as a driver so not sure what the deal with insurance will be but I sure hope I'm not on the hook for my $1000 deductible. Anyone have any idea what the repairs might end up being for something like this, not sure if they would fix the rear hatch or just put a new one on, damage to plastic rear quarter panel should be easy to repair but those parts usually ain't cheap, plus who knows what the damage underneath might be... it is unreasonable to think this might go up to $5000??? I have ICON suspension with remote reservoir located back towards then end but I can't see any damage...anything else to be sure and make sure on the damage... didn't hit very hard, we were both stopped at a red light.... thinking I may use this as an opportunity to get a new steel bumper.... Shrockworks here I come.

He gave you an insurance card that he wasn't listed on? Did you get his DL number and write down the plate number of the car?

I would have called the cops...

Because the truck wasn't back when we were hoping, some things just couldn't be done in time, so the plan is for after FJ Summit:

Early August - Go out to CBI, and swap my single swing arm bumper for the double swing arm bumper

Mid August - Get the exhaust cut and bent at a 90 degree angle, re-wire/route cabling for the new bumper, re-do some wiring for the HAM radio, install Rigid camp-light for the camp table on the new bumper.

Eventual things to do: swap ARB Safari Snorkel when production unit ships, swap Pelfrey Aluminum bumper to steel bumper.

Then STOP MESSING WITH MY SETUP.

Over the weekend I got my TRD intake into the 4R.

I bought all the parts off Camelback, so I had to go to the hardware store. What a trip that was. Go to NAPA, and they have a sign "no power, closed". So I go across the road to Advance. The guys at Advance are just terrible and try to "rig" me stuff together, and have no reasonable size wire loom and no plugs for me close off the 2 screw hole with. SO I leave. Go back to NAPA and now they are open. Get the stuff I needed (except those plugs)...and now their credit card machine won't work. So while they fix that, I leave and go to Home Depot...no dice on the plugs. I end up going 30 minutes to a hardware store and they actually have the 2 plugs. I finally go back to NAPA, 2.5 hours after I first stopped, and finally get the remaining stuff.

ONLY to find when I put the intake box into the truck, that I didn't need the big plug, and since the box lid gave me an extra grommet, I could just use that and the 3rd screw to close the box. GRRR

Either way, everything is in. The truck did the usual "stall on the first start", and been smooth sailing since. :bluejump:

Its probably a placebo effect, but it does feel like the truck has a little more "get up and go"

Was always searching for a safe, reliable location for mounting my Hi-Lift jack. Came across a great solution from Go Westy.com whom specializes in VW Bus overlanding parts. Cool part is, that it can be removed easily if towing is needed and included a d-ring mounting point to allow my rugged ridge recovery buckle to be added on. Great product, super strong and rhino-coated to last years. I highly recommend this item if your off-roading.

Ordered it the last week of May and picked it up about three weeks ago. I got all the windows tinted and have ordered a gobi rack with rigids in the front and rear and a daystar spacer lift to hold me until I can get the icon I want.
