Went to the bottom of the lake...

Since all the water has been released out of Lake Oroville we went for a drive down to the bottom.... the sad thing is.... a few more weeks and it will be even lower...

Yes, sad thing. Did the same thing in Folsom Lake last year. Same story with all lakes in California. Folsom Lake is ready to get boats out.

Installed skids

Finished installing RCI aluminum skid plates. I need a 1/4 inch spacer between the skids and the transmission cross member. I bent the original front skid and scraped the support tube that braces the transmission cross member. I don't expect to go rock crawling, but with some damage on an easy drive, skids seem to be necessary.

I have the gas tank skid to install and sometime soon, I would like to add sliders. For now, I'm pondering which sliders to buy.

Was it an ordeal to get the CA retro plates? Just got my new Run'r today but the dealer said I'd have to order the retro plates from the DMV after I get my plates. They can't order them even though they're registering the vehicle. WTF?

It was a 4 month wait but I had the original white CA plates.

Went to Box Canyon in Florence, AZ today. Had a blast with friends. Got a little hairy at moments especially when I was rolling over a boulder in the canyon and smacked down on the oem fuel plate.... Was able to get the rig off the rock and left some powder remnants from the rear left tire on the boulder. A little worried that the skid is dented enough to cause the plastic of the fuel tank to be dented. I'll have to take the skid off and investigate and hammer out the plate dent! Beautiful fun day in the sun zipping around some back country!

You're fine. The tank is semi flexible and I hit my skid plate harder than you did and mine didn't take any damage.
