I'm on my third V-Strom: 2012 650, 2013 650 (after the 2012 had an unfortunate demise on The Dragon), and then traded for the 1000 when they came out with the new model in 2014. You could say I'm a fan. I'm about to tear the 1000 apart to do a full exhaust replacement (Arrow) and add some other stuff. One amazing thing with this new exhaust, the 1000 will only be 4 pounds heavier than the 650.

It's the Rhino Rack dome 1300... it's awesome for what I need. Sets up quick and always have it with me.

Picked her up last week. Starting to install the parts that have been waiting around for last month. 
First up, bushwacker flares and wiring up the marker lights.
Next will be the ARB drawers and the C4Fab sliders (as soon as I get them p/coated).
Not shown, but also swapped out low and high beam for Sylvana Silverstar Ultra's. Ran them in my 4th Gen and very happy with the light output (hate HID glare and the aftermarket HID ballast installs, so prefer spending $ on quality bulbs).

Hiding stuff from the wife is good. I quit smoking but buy a pack once in a blue moon. I will use your method of the false bottom in the console to hide a pack on the way home and then transfer it to a 'safe' hideout in the garage later. That console is so very deep! False bottom won't even be noticed.

Dual battery setup
Not today, but over the weekend installed Shrockwork's dual battery kit, & National Luna's Dual battery Management System. Running an Optima Yellowtop 34/78 for my secondary battery (No store around my area carried a yellowtop 43D). Next up, an auxiliary fuse panel to my secondary battery. Sorry if some of these photos are sideways.

Megaweapon has a new face! I finally got my new MetalTech bumper installed today:
Unfortunately my (stock) front skid plate was so smashed up they couldn't get it back on. But I'm going to be
upgrading the skids in a couple months anyway:
And…I also had them beef up the suspension with King coil overs and stronger springs! It's got a mild lift,
roughly 2 inches.
These were the best pics I could get tonight. I'll try to shoot some better photos tomorrow.
