I like everthing about this post!
After much debate, I decided to get NFAB nerf bar steps. I know that these are very controversial here on this forum and I was really contemplating getting true sliders to use as steps.. However, I rarely get out off roading and I could never see myself getting into a situation where a slider would be needed. My wife and 5 year old son and pretty much everyone who rides in my 4R complains about the height so I felt like I needed something. Anyways, I had an Amazon gift card burning a hole in my shirt pocket.

I think they're a great choice. I've never liked the look of most steps or running boards, but I really like my Nerf Bars.

I can see good points made by those who oppose them. These were very controversial a few years ago. I remember several heated discussions and even some name calling. Emotions were high. LMAO! They do appear to hang a little low and are probably not as strong as sliders. So I guess I can see where they may be an issue when off-roading (under certain circumstances) But I needed steps and had a certain price in mind. Anyways, what started out as my 4Runner is now my wifes and we're thinking about getting a different vehicle next year.

Just finished my AFE install.
Everything was easy except for the modeling around the part that goes into the wall by the right front tire. It definitely was to hefty to fit everything in so I just left it off.
There is a .25inch gap between so not a big deal. Love the extra throttle response, quicker pickup, and sound!

I pulled the 4runner up to the Mailbox, in the snow, and pulled THESE out! - Thankful for David @ Cornfed. The rear spacers came labeled and sized up to take out the lean.
Pumped to get the install done. - Haven't decided whether I'm going to do it or have a shop do it. If anyone knows a shop in the Nashville, TN area that you can recommend, let me know.

Controversy ...funny! people, choose what fits your POU...a lot put sliders on which is all good, however most have probably never needed them but always good to have capabilities too. With that, I don't run sliders yet on this rig....just choose what you like or need and don't worry about novel feedback
