What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Applied grip tape to the sliders so the wife doesn't complain about the step up.

Even rounded the corners to be fancy.

Also installed the Raingler net for the Gobi Stealth rack.

Did you get the gobi shocks for the rear hatch? If not what company did you go with?

I didnt get the shocks, but now that its installed it closes hard. Im going to look into it now. I have the baja rack and ladder.

You and me both. Had my own snow wheeling adventure and found my lack of a lift had me high-centered three times. Once, we had to winch all but one of the trucks up a hill, while the others I was the only one that needed yanked out with a Bubba Rope.

What chains are those on the front of your rig? I bought a set of the Peerless Z6, thinking if anything would clear it would be those as they're the lowest clearance I could find. Figured if those fit the front, I'd get a set of the Auto-Trac chains for the rear. Were they helpful in the deeper stuff? I'd actually forgotten about them when we hit the trail, else I'd have thrown them on.

Thanks me too! In one of the pics you can see a eroded rock face on the mountain across from us. There were constant rock falls falling into the valley right below is, we were high enough that we were safe, but was another reminder that it can be dangerous out there. Stay safe out there friends !!!

They are Security Chain Co Super Z6 PT#SZ 447 which fit my 275's
Im not sure if they are the best chains or not. I had bought them for a Suburban I used to own and they happen to be the right size. I had never used them up until now.
We were able to get through the deep stuff without them, it was the icy Packed snow parts that they really helped. Also they would dig down to the dirt when the snow wasn't super deep. Truck is like a tractor when chained front and rear!!

We came across a kid walking along the trail the night before wearing only a light jacket and Vans for shoes. Was wheeling all by himself and got stuck in his Taco and was trying to walk out. We took him back to his truck to see if we can get him out. He was off the road at top of a long snow covered hill. I stopped at the top behind him and slid backward (had no chains on at this point) until I could put it in the bank to stop me, the chains definitely would have helped in that situation.
I did learn that HDC works in reverse and was able to back down with HDC keeping the wheels from locking and controlling the decent.

It's a useful upgrade when you're dealing with rain. However in freezing rain sliders are still potential murder bars.

Being taller than 5'8 helps too but yeah grip tape it all the way

When I put my gobi on I ordered lift struts from www.liftsupportsdepot.com they weren't too expensive and they work great. Install takes about 5 min, and if you're tall enough to hold the door with your head and shoulder its a one man job. If you have someone to help you it'll be way easier. :rockthrow:

I hacked out the center console, its tight but works, others have put on the right if the center console in passenger area, that seems easier.

I put way too much stuff in the center console, to put the radio in there. The passenger side of the console is what I was thinking. Are people just screwing the radio mounting bracket to the interior trim?

Had the TRD Grille and Rims installed this afternoon. I took these pictures in the parking lot of the audio shop.

Now it's having a full DD audio setup and I'll have it back tomorrow. I'm a huge music fan so audio was a must ASAP.

Surprisingly yes. I got the struts before the ladder came in so I wanted to see the difference. I installed them with NO LADDER and the tailgate was actually hard to close. I installed the ladder with the new struts and it closes like it did when it was stock. Well worth it. I can't imagine having the added weight with the OEM liftgate supports.

Same here. I knew I'd be putting a ladder on so I went ahead and upgraded the struts before hand. I'm glad I did. It was also cheap and easy.

Finally got some new tires put on. Only about a week after they expected them to arrive. Had to laugh that it was inclement weather that held up the All-Terrain tires.
The upgrade to A/T just makes the truck look so much better!
