I passed a vehicle driving through our neighborhood that had some kind of scanning system mounted on it:

It was setting off both the laser and radar detectors in my 4Runner, so I'm guessing it had a LIDAR system as well as
radar. I don't know if it was mapping the terrain, or if it was an experimental prototype for a self-driving car.

Had my sister-in-law and her family in town from Anchorage. Took them on a tourist whirlwind of Miami and South Florida. Wynwood Walls (Miami), South Beach, Calle Ocho (Little Havana), John Pennecamp State Park (Key Largo for Coal Reef Glass Bottom Boat, kayaking and snorkeling), and Sawgrass Recreation Area for airboats and gator viewing. A whirlwind 3 days. Yes 3 car seats fit fine in the second row and we used all 7 seats in the 4Runner without complaints. Luckily my wife is still limber as it does take a few yoga moves to get into both 3rd row seats through the back hatch with 3 car seats in the second row.

Looking forward to visiting them in Alaska the first week in July. We won't have my 4Runner but they have a 2012 SR5 that we will be using when in town.

My 4Runner is back from the dealer due to KDSS repair.

It has that new KDSS smell:

They did open a case to be certain they had the correct procedure; it was a Saturday, so they ended up keeping it until today. It took a few days to locate the SST and for the parts to arrive, no big deal. I measured each corner before the repair, and it is the same today, level. It rides like new again, no noises. Edit: It was absolutely clunking before the repair. Not anymore.

The total was just under $1200, $853 for the part and three hours of labor. I'm not certain this would be the cash price, but that is what the warranty paid. First time I have ever used an extended warranty, happy I have it during this career change. Every trail sold here has KDSS, and they service many GX460's. I believe this is the first time they have ever fixed one, my experience is atypical.

And 2. OMG!!! I have admired your 4Runner locally for some time now... I travel the same route as you or your wife in the morning from Harwich on Suicide alley, to Hyannis and have frequently travelled with your 4Runner while I was trying to decide on Thule cross bars, or OEM, as well as your side steps. LOL
