What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

Drove out west of Little Rock yesterday and enjoyed some dirt roads in the 4Runner. I've had it about three months now, really pleased with this vehicle!

Where did you end up west of Little Rock. I'm over in Northeast Oklahoma and looking to make it East to Fayetteville or in that area this summer.

This is an area just west of Little Rock, about a 45 minute drive on Highway 10. The roads in the area are all unpaved Forest Service roads, near Lake Sylvia. It's a beautiful area, and just a little to the west of where I took the photo is a wilderness area called Flatside Wilderness, which is amazing. All of this is on the eastern edge of the Ouachita Mountains, and the Ouachita Trail (a hiking trail that goes from just west of Little Rock into eastern Okalahoma, through the Ouachita Mtns) zig zags along some of the Forest Service Roads in the area, too. I have ridden my mountain bike and camped in this area for a long time, it's one of my favorite places. We also used to do a mountain bike race called the Slobberknocker on these roads (70+ miles), the climbs are a real test on a bike.

Fayetteville, and northwest Arkansas, is in the Ozarks, and there is an amazing amount of natural beauty there, too, it's probably what Arkansas is best known for as far as outdoor activities, hiking, mountain biking, etc. Fayetteville is about a three hour drive from Little Rock. The drive along I-49 into the northwest corner of the state is beautiful, winding through the Ozarks.

Finished installing my yaesu ftm-400 radio. Thanks to all who posted there how to's, wouldn't have been possible without that help!

Lifting a 2015 TRD Pro

Hey I am sure this isn't the thread for this but if someone can direct me to one, I have search but haven't found anything useful, that would be great.

I am looking to put 285 duratracs on my trdpro and have just purchased a stage 2 icon lift with billet uca's. I have read a little bit that its a waste to lift the trd's due to the stock suspension being what it is. Do I need a lift to fit the 285's on Stealth Custom Ray 10's or should I be fine with a bit of trimming of the mud flaps? Also is it a waste to lift the trd pro?

Thank you for your help.

Remove the front mud flaps, likely trim the front bumper and move the front section of the inner fender liner out of the way. Stock TRD Pro suspension is pretty sweet, I doubt the ICON is any better and will likely not last as long as the stock suspension will.

trd suspension better than icon stage 2? that doesn't sound right but i've not ridden on either

Better in terms of how long it'll last. The OEM TRD Pro shocks will last far longer than the ICON shocks will before needing a rebuild. For what he's looking to do, the stock Pro suspension is perfectly fine.

Put up my new Gobi Rack.

Took five months to receive, but I am happy with it. Looks nice next to my 2016 TRD Pro with a Baja Rack.

Although it is pretty sweet...it felt a little mushy. I like my icon suspension by far in comparison.

Understand that when lifting our 4runners because of the independent front suspension it does not necessarily translate into not needing to modify a lot to run 285's with a wider rim and different offset. Once the suspension is flexed (stuffed) you will get the same rubbing you would on a stock height vehicle. It will not matter lift or not, you will have to remove mud flaps, do a fender liner mod and potentially a body mount chop. Alignment also will have a impact on how much and where the rubbing will take place.

Here is a better place to post this question, and also read through for a little research.

As to the suspension, here is my .02. The stock 4Runner is plenty capable and even more so with the TRD Pro suspension. I would drive it stock for a while and see what you need as it comes up. If you want a lift, look at the Toytec TRD Pro spacer lift that will allow you to use the already upgraded suspension you paid for with the vehicle without changing the driving dynamics as drastically. You can add some rear coils (toytec supeflex, wheelers t13, dobinson or whatever flavor you want) and get the fully lifted and more than capable rig for about $400, while retaining most of the stock reliability.

Oh and check this link...just because the late great 1engineer would want it this way...a little tribute.
