This just arrived today from Amazon, just in time for my upcoming Nevada/Mojave ghost town camping trip:
The jump starter comes with a nifty case:
Inside there are pockets for the jump starter and jumper cables, plus AC and car chargers, plus various cables for charging electronics:
The jump starter has two USB ports, a couple different types of outlets for electronics, a special port for the jumper cables, and a small LED flashlight on the end:
This will give me some peace of mind when I'm alone in the desert, many miles from help. If my battery ever goes dead I won't be stranded. And it also gives me another option for charging my phone, drone equipment, etc.

Took her up to Yosemite for a little RNR
This past weekend, I took a break with my little sister and her boyfriend and went up to Yosemite for a few days. We stayed at the Diamond O campground right outside the park entrance off Evergreen and what a great campsite - next to a nice big creek with plenty of places to swim or lay out and take in the scenery. Nice and quiet too.
I'm happy to report that high altitude, high temperature (106 degrees F) hill climbing in the 5th gen 4Runner is no longer a problem as it was when the car was brand new, thinking back to my Mono Lake adventure a year ago, just after I bought her. The boys at Toyota were right, the ECU just needed some time to adjust and learn and it's done just that. Even with 1038 lbs of new stuff on the car, it handled very well.
Here are a few photos I took of the rig on the trip around Yosemite and Evergreen. My factory skids are off in preparation for the new RCI skids, due back from powder coating next week, along with my sPOD bracket and a little tin light cover for the rear hitch gate license plate. Enjoy and if you haven't gotten the rig out in a while, get out there!

Looks so clean! Did you remove the bull bar on the SSO bumper, or did they ship to you without the bar? I love that look.

Looks awesome man, love the way it looks with no oem roof rails or rack. How do you like the Wilco? I've been contemplating getting one for awhile now but my OCD kicks in heavy seeing how far it sticks out in the back, does it seem to be pretty stout?

I have always been curious about these... How well do they work? How long do they last? What is used to gauge their performance?
I got one last month off of Amazon that was a different brand, and it wouldn't hold a charge right out the box. So, I returned it. I have not revisited this concept, but I would like to do so...

Yes it is, and I am not sure yet. It's a buddy of mine who is also installing the suspension, wheel spacers, and tires. I'll probably find out tonight or tomorrow.

It's the Wilco Hitchgate model with added accessories for the 2 jerry cans and hilift jack. I added the hardware for the jack mount as seen on my build thread. I also added black ABS piping as cases for jerry can fuel spout and water spout storage beaneath the jerry can trays, also detailed in my build thread, found in my signature.
I haven't changed the rear camera location yet but will do that at some point.

Thanks! Trying to keep it simple for touring with the occasional offroad adventure. The SSO bumper can be ordered without the hoop or bull bar. I didn't want it there for noise, airflow disruption into the engine bay and the looks too.

I've used these for about 5 years now. I bought one for my mother as well since she likes to travel on her own.
I'd kept mine well maintained, checking the charge every few months or so. I went to use it late last year and it almost blew up! Had to slide it across the parking to to make sure it didn't cook off in my face.
Emailed Microstart about the issue, and the replaced the unit, no hassle at all.
I've used the new one several times now and am plenty happy with it...even used it on a moto I bought when the battery died unexpectedly...and charged a strangers iPhone while stuck in a traffic jam on the interstate.
I highly recommend them.
