First Test Drive

A few days late, but tested out my new suspension.

Then a little camping over the weekend.

my 5100's bolted up

Finally got around to popping in my Cornfed spacers in the rear and 5100's all around. Super slick, I found the rear spacer/spring cluster f@@k more of a pain that the fronts. After marking, and loosening the LCA bolts they just fell out. What a great 358$ upgrade. Stability, body roll, nose dive, overall handling....so great.

I also did an exchange of my power steering fluid. After 3 very weird carefree and nonchalant conversations with my local dealers regarding the disparity between the manual and pwr steering on the fluid type....i went with what the cap said. I thought i would be a smartypants and rig up divert to the return line and pour fresh into the reservoir as the pump ran that way avoiding the continuous mixing of old and new.
Well.....that pump, just with the 4R at idle and not moving the steering has an incredible cycling volume rate. I had the fluid changed in less than 2 min. I had to get my wife to start it and "immediately" turn it off as just that split second of running emptied the bottle. You can pour it in fast enough to make up for what is blowing out the return line. The tiny hole in the bottle where the dipstick goes doesn't allow it. My only thought after would be to possibly put a small restrictor or stop-cock to control the output from the return line but i don't know how that may affect the pump.

Helped a cousin out from her apartment due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey. We live more North of Houston and getting it pretty bad as well.

Not sure if you can tell but the water level is up to the top of the stop signs way down there when I zoomed in.

ended up going back to 285/70-17, the 75's were just too big: rubbed when compressed/turned. MPG dropped from 14.6 to 12.3, louder whine on road, not enough performance gain to warrant the swap. Discount Tire honored their 30 day guarantee to return the 4 tires.

Well, you just saved me some trouble. I have 285/70 STT Pro's now and was thinking I might try the STMaxx 285/75's.

Took the day off work, went to the mountains and enjoyed the trails and cool air! Ended up driving nearly 200 miles today.

TRD Pro and my HP2

I took the TRD Pro on a short road trip towing my HP2. Had a great day of riding in the deep sand.
The TRD Pro also performed well.

Maybe so. Toyota put it there though, and it works for me.

Re-tinted the back window because the totes bouncing around in the cargo area wore a hole through it (only 3 weeks old:fish and replaced all of the flickering interior LEDs with the OEM bulbs.
