To the OP's credit, that picture is at the bottom of the article. I can't watch videos at work. So, I am guessing he just skimmed the article and referenced the picture for his post - since it was a 4Runner.
That being said: I don't completely disagree with your analogy.

Had a little episode a couple of weeks ago that destroyed my rear bumper valence. So when the dealer replaced it, i had them spray the valences to color match the gunmetal wheels. Geeky, I know

So I got my truck back and I found the shop used seam sealer taper rather than the liquid like the factory on the new liftgate. It’s already not sticking in some spots. I’m not happy. I see the tape is an option, but I would prefer the liquid like OEM. Thoughts?
