Did a little camping w/ 2 of my boys in the Jimez Mountains! Car only had 300 miles when I left El Paso, came home w/ just under 1,200 miles. Boys and I had a great time, truly was an awesome trip.

not sure if you rent but if you have renters insurance it should cover your loss. I had my roof rack stolen and my insurance company told me to contact my renters insurance but they said since it was outside of the car they cant cover it stupid insurance companies.

I do have renters, I was gonna file the report tomorrow, hopefully that will work. Thanks for the recommendation. I guess now is as a good a time as ever to upgrade.

roof rack?!? damn! good to know! I was about to make a post about keeping recovery boards safe.

oh sorry. shouldve been a little more clear. it was my yakima roof rack on my civic a long long time ago. thieves used a screwdriver or whatever and pried off the L clips that attached to the door area. roof rack and 2 bike racks
I had thule aero bars and 2 bike racks on my acura for years and was always nervous when i got back from a bike ride (im gone for at least 3-5 hours).

I'm planning on getting the gobi stealth but ill be super paranoid since its a $1500 rack ughh hah

Nope! I looked into Soundman and was set on one of theirs till I stumbled across fifield fabrications. Just a dude in his garage who throws them together and are exponentially cheaper.

Thanks! but unfortunately I am not. I kind of stumbled my way to a finished product as I haven't really fabricated anything before haha, so idk how detailed of a write up I would truly have, not a ton of pictures from as I was going. Made the trip up to Laurel Lakes this Labor Day weekend which is a 9.9 mile trip with 3,000 ft of elevation gain. Fairly crowded on the way up, a lot of people were turning around due to the single lane. Patience pays off.

Conditions were perfect and the views did not disappoint!

Hidden Key Spot

I just bought a brand new 2017 4x4 T4R, after having a Ford with a keypad entry. I like to leave my keys in the car, and found a solution. Rather than hide a key where anyone can find it. I hid a glue a key above the grill so I can press the unlock button if needed. There is no way to see it from outside the car. I get free key replacements, so it was no question a great idea.

Catching Up

Been piling up stuff in the garage, so tried to do some catching up:
-Popped off the side mirror housings and installed the LED puddle lights
-Installed reverse LEDs
-Installed Canadian Cargo Liner
-Not today, but applied the TRD skid plate decal about 3 months back. Wanted to make sure it would hold up and happy to say no signs of pealing off whatsoever!

Up next: Gobi stealth tool box and Rigid Adapt bar + rear lights (two days away!!)

Sound deadend the whole truck. Did the roof, floor, rear quarter panels, door panels, and rear hatch. Wired up the TRD button, too, that I had kept from my old truck. Just picked up the 4Runner Saturday evening. Started first thing Sunday morning not even 10hours old. Finished up today. Big difference, quieter and everything sounds and feels solid. Also helps a lot with the heat, especially on the roof. Button is a nice toy, and can't beat the look
