1:56, Wow, that that must have felt like quite a Jolt.

It did not feel or sound good, but my front skid did its job.

I had my left foot on the brake anticipating it spinning then hooking up, but what I did not anticipate was that the vehicle before me spun its tires in the mud in that spot (you can see it at 2:00 on my tire) and dug a trench. That made the drop and impact a bit worse than I was ready for!

Sound deadend the whole truck. Did the roof, floor, rear quarter panels, door panels, and rear hatch. Wired up the TRD button, too, that I had kept from my old truck. Just picked up the 4Runner Saturday evening. Started first thing Sunday morning not even 10hours old. Finished up today. Big difference, quieter and everything sounds and feels solid. Also helps a lot with the heat, especially on the roof. Button is a nice toy, and can't beat the look

And screwed it up trying to remove the overspray. WTF? I watched videos on the subject, read multiple threads (in your face, haters!), and even left a 1/4" strip without newspaper so it would be easier to peel up.

IDK. Temperatures were 85 when I started and well into the 90's by the time I finished 8 coats, 15-25 minutes apart. Humidity was higher than normal for this area, about 50%.

I think I should have just treated it like spray paint and kept that newspaper/tape tight! So now I have a jagged edge of shiny grey valence on top of the bumper, and scratch marks where I tried to remove it from my paint. Did I mention some people just don't have the wrencher instinct?

FML. I'm not even posting a picture. Let's see if I can fix it first.

Interesting. What sound deadening product did you use and how much weight do you think you added?

I used three boxes of Stinger Roadkill matting. Each box has 9 sheets totalling 36sq ft and weighs about 30lbs, so probably almost 90lbs of weight spread through out the truck. I had one sheet left after it was all done. The weight of quietness, haha.

I found my rear door seals "squished" for lack of better terms... should I start a campaign to blame the Mrs or is this something you all have seen before?

My only hesitation on blaming her is that its the exact same on both sides in that same spot... I did a search for "door seal" and it seems that most are split.

In the short term I tried to put it back in the channel that holds it, but its beyond its original form and pops right back out when I open the door.

My seals were doing the same exact thing...luckily I caught it where the seals still went back in and I threw a piece of electrical tape on them to hold them in place.

First run at the dip....things I learned which are well covered on this site..

Been piling up stuff in the garage, so tried to do some catching up:
-Popped off the side mirror housings and installed the LED puddle lights
-Installed reverse LEDs
-Installed Canadian Cargo Liner
-Not today, but applied the TRD skid plate decal about 3 months back. Wanted to make sure it would hold up and happy to say no signs of pealing off whatsoever!



Up next: Gobi stealth tool box and Rigid Adapt bar + rear lights (two days away!!)

Searched for Water Falls in Colorado over LaborDay Weekend

Now that my 4Runner is set up to go about anywhere, we searched the back roads of the Colorado Rockies for scenic water falls. Found a few using Glenwood Springs, CO as a home base for the weekend.
