Oh man, that sucks! Pesky little rodents. Thats one of my biggest fear is rodents chewing up my wires. Insurance going to cover it? Let us know how the repairs go...

this is the worst. Insurance was going to cover it but the rodent only bit one wire and was fixed earlier today at the dealer. They charged me 575 which is around my deductible so just paid out of pocket. The heat shield around the firewall wasn’t replaced because the dealer said it would have cost around 30 hours of labor because they had to pull the motor out. “Confused”. So I’m just going to stop by the local auto store and get some and put it on my self. I lucked out. I’ve heard other stories where people had to repair their whole harness. That would have been a nightmare.

Oh when I opened the hood earlier today when the tow truck came the rat was still there. Haha

Anyone know how to rodent proof our soy based wires??

Where did you get this done? I've been looking at getting a ceramic coating since my wife has commandeered the garage.

I work directly with Ceramic Pro and they had an installer come out to Ohio and do my truck.

Installed this!! Instructions were terrible for someone like me (not super mechanically inclined), but we figured it out. All in all, it's a killer piece of equipment! The ellis precision knob was a breeze to install and looks equally as amazing.

Detailed it, applied Ceramic Pro 9H to the exterior, treated all interior with Ceramic Pro interior chemical, and applied Diamon Fusion to the glass. Fluid film application next week... bring on winter, I’m ready!

Honda offers a special wrap(coated with cayenne pepper I believe). But I usually use moth balls in a tiny foil wrap to keep them at bay

The TPMS malfunction indicator started flashing earlier this week and a diagnostic eval determined it was the right rear sensor that was faulty (likely dead battery). I went ahead and replaced all four, as I would have been charged a separate diagnostics charge with each successive failure. All of the sensors were the originals. At least the new ones come with a 1 year, 12K warranty.

Actually, not as bad as I feared. The diagnostic service was just under $100, but the cost for the TPMS sensors and the installation was no more than the better quality units available through the local auto parts and/or tire stores.

So what, $500 total investment?

Honestly, I thing I would have left the old stems and disabled the light on the dash. The system has it's uses but I don't need to be told to check my tires by a light on the dash. You should be checking them every 90 days or so anyway if not more often. Kinda like checking your oil and other fluids, it's just something you should be doing regularly.

On a side note, your spare doesn't have a sensor and 99% of people never think to check it. In the event you have a flat, you're spare is flat also because it's never checked and filled as needed. May want to check it out.
