What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

So I was driving to work today and heard some weird chattering coming from the front passenger. I stopped to check and my UCA was almost coming off. Turns out the flange nut to the long ass UCA bolt was missing. I drove back home as safe as possible. Ubered to DCH Torrance because they were the only place that had one and picked up the part and re-installed it. The other side was loose also so I made sure I cranked the SH*T out of it. I had to get my runner aligned so i did that after as well.

SO...future advice to myself. Follow the damn instructions and really re-tighten stuff when the directions tell you to do it.

So did I! - but it seems to follow my truck everywhere. I'm pretty sure I disguested everyone who parked next to me at Whole Foods today and I can park and find my trunk downwind with my eyes closed which is cool. Regardless, its absolute therapy to fluid fiim it - knowing I have some defense against the pending salt trucks.

Another plus.. I now have a 20 gallon compressor

So i was going heading to downtown boulder to some lunch and got into another accident. I am livid as hell right now because we only exchanged insurance information and didn't get the police involved. I agreed to it because i thought my dash camera would of caught the accident but apparently it was not recording and hasn't been recording... I have some scratches on the bumper but thats getting replaced anyway but my concern now is I feel like she's going to try and screw me on insurance and don't want my rate going up because of this.

Here is a footage of the rear dash camera. As you can see, I was below 15mph and my speed never changed. I was in the left lane going straight and she was in the right lane. There is parking on both sides and is a one way street. The lane is continuous and does not end. She turned left right into me and is now claiming that I hit her when in the front of her car when she was almost in the left lane... If I understand driving laws correctly, she is at fault because she is trying to get over. I was so pissed, I forgot to take pictures of the damages to her car but her fender is smashed in. I'm hoping once claims looks at the damages, they will be able to determine what happen and determine she is at fault.

What are y'alls thoughts? Oh, turn up the volume at the 4 minute mark. You don't say sorry unless you are at fault... Ignore my agonizing moan. Second accident in 3 weeks so it is expected... But I'm 100% sure that I am not at fault with this one....

Swapped out the TRD intake filter to a AFE Power 31-10208 Magnum Flow Pro Dry S air filter...

And actually gain some gas mileage back. Very satisfied with this product.

Finally got my valances back on in my "garage". I pulled them off, then wet sanded them with 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper, then painted them with a matte black rattle can I got from Lowes (only black automotive paint they had, said it was "good for racing stripes" or some such). I wanted the matte black to better match the grille garnish and rear garnish since I know the TRD Pros have a bit of extra sheen that doesn't match the grill.

It turned out pretty well. Took about 45 minutes to pull the bumpers off, reinstall the valances, and reinstall the bumpers this time around as opposed to when I first pulled the valances off.

Now just gotta find time to do the same for the roof rails. Also it needs a bath badly. But parking out in the street in Seattle winters, it pretty much makes it pointless to wash the thing since it'll get rained on within a few hours.

Had to go out and try something in the rain today. Tested the Anti-Lock brakes and Traction Control.

The ABS let me steer while it was operating as expected. It also cleared the stuff I had on the back seat and sent it all to the floor. That added to the noise of the ABS.

Turned off Traction Control, got good wheel spin coming around a corner. Turned it on and I could hear and feel it grab a few times, but took off with no wheel spin -- That stuff really works. This was all in 2WD.

Looks to me from the cam footage there is no doubt you maintained your lane and the other vehicle had to cross the line to strike you. I wouldn't expect either insurance to find you any portion liable. The footage will help your cause, so I'd absolutely be forthcoming with that.

Also, if there haven't been claims reported already, file one on her insurance policy as you have the information and can call in to report it. Definitely do not want to just assume the other driver did so. You may not even want to file one on your own policy unless their company creates an issue.

When I turn my traction control off, the wheels will spin but will engage the traction control and shut the throttle off if they spin for too long. Do you know if there is a way to completely shut off the traction control?

Don't know, maybe another member has an answer. I'm one of the older members and conservative enough to not let it spin for very long.

I did get the throttle reduction in 2WD in sand when I did did not have it in 4WD.

Hold it down for a number (5-10?) seconds and it will totally turn off.
