I like the Cavasback liner in my 4R, but it was just too slippery. Went to Lowe's and got a 4'x3' mat and cut to fit the tray. Much better grip wise.

Which Focals did you order?

I am looking at the focal IC 690 2way coax 6x9 speakers as the IS 690separates put a tweeter in the dash versus the existing full range dash speaker.

Some people place a 3 1/2" speakers in the dash corners, but there is little agreement as to what fits without alteration and/or wiring adapters.

I am looking at the focal IC 690 2way coax 6x9 speakers as the IS 690separates put a tweeter in the dash versus the existing full range dash speaker.

Initially I incorrectly ordered: IS165TOY - IC690TOY which I learned was for a Camry when I couldn't get the speaker holes to line up with the holes in my door.

After watching the video below again I realized I transposed the S/C letters. Now I know why they were so much cheaper than what I found them for elsewhere.

I mailed them back on my dime and reordered IC165TOY and IS690TOY. These should be plug and play, mo modifications/adapters necessary.

They are due in this evening. Ive already got my door panels pulled in anticipation of getting them in ASAP.

Finally heat shrinked my connections for my Rigid fogs. disassembled the Deutsch connector to get the wires alone without having to cut the actual wires. Heat shrink, tape, and loom. Little better then just exposed butt connectors lol. Driver side OEM loom poured out some water when i disconnected the connector from the Rigid fog. so that was reassuring lol.

I have heard that replacing the dash speaker with focal tweeters makes the treble too forward focused and bright.

Maybe after you install the door speakers, but before you put in the tweeters you could give them a before and after audio test.

I am thinking of starting with the Focal IC 690's with the coax tweeter first and dealing with dash speaker afterwards...

Finally got the SSO sliders installed. Had them powder coated at a local shop with a fine texture. Should have more pics when I get them out off-road

Putting a bracket over the back of the tweeter is the only assembly you will need to do.

IC165TOY: rear 6.5" It was confirmed in another thread that these are the same replacements for the hatch speakers too. Another set of those and an amp are my next upgrade.

OE front door 6X9:

Focal 6X9 bolts right up and OE plug drops right in:

...exactly same for rears and tweeters.

Front tweeter in:

Im by no means a musician or musically inclined, what I think sounds good some might think sounds like dog crap. Ive never upgraded a factory sound system either. These are literally the first car stereo speakers Ive ever purchased (Im 45 and probably been through 24 different vehicles)

That being said these are a definite improvement over the OE speakers. Much cleaner at higher volumes. Where I used to put the factory sound at 50-55 with windows down, I ran out for a bit and had them at 40.

Drove 440 miles round trip to Buford, GA to pickup an old surface grinder. 4R pulled great, no issues in the Chattanooga/Monteagle mountains. Avg mpg on the return trip was 13 though. 6x10 trailer and the grinder was ~750lbs.

Even though the temps are in the single digits, and windchill is below zero, I had to wash her and get all the salt off from our trip in the snowstorms back from Detroit last week. A clean truck is a happy truck!

As someone who has never lived in that environment, I've always wondered: How do you wash a vehicle in below-freezing conditions??

That "pickle juice" they put down drives me crazy. It doesn't come off easy and they have put it down a couple times this year when t wasn't needed (no snow forecast). Last week our roads were more white than black.
