Drove 13 hours from Northern Vermont to Maryland through the East Coast Blizzard. We took the western route (I87-88-81-83), but was still sketchy, with white-out conditions.

Getting closer to completing my pull out drawer. Drawer is roughly 36.5" wide x 40" long x 3"in deep..will be completing the platform next week with any luck. Everything was built from metal and the box was sprayed with Line-X (inside and out). Sliders are 36" and rated at 500lbs.

No chance...got my kids hooked on skiing and mountains. My daughter before the trip was telling everyone she is a “Florida Girl”. By the end of the trip she said she is no longer a “Florida Girl” because she loves the mountains. She was asking when can we come back in the summer for hiking and mountain biking. Brainwash complete!

My daughter is dying to see snow but it’s proving difficult to time a trip well with school. We aren’t quite sure she understands since she complains about having to put on a jacket in the mornings for school.

How much water was there on the road? It sounds like what happens when you hydroplane.

I did that once in Ford Ranger on a crowded freeway. It was pouring rain hard and I hit thick water trying to change lanes. I spun 180 degrees until I was sliding backwards. Watched a little sedan squeeze by under my left mirror while I was sliding backwards and amazingly we never hit each other. After slamming against the center concrete divider I came to rest on the left inside edge of the carpool lane facing backwards. The engine stalled from racing backwards in drive. The truck started right up but I couldn't move. There was too much traffic. Cars were coming up on me in the carpool lane. Within a minute or two several drivers came to a stop in the left two lanes and I was able to turn around. A mile farther I passed 3 cars that smashed and totaled their cars probably spinning out the same way I did but with less luck. When I got to my office I was amazed to find nothing but a little chrome scraped off of both bumpers at the corners.

A good amount of water although no rain. It was also below freezing, so I'm guessing there was probably some ice too. I drove over the same road again today and that area of road was all salted. I'm gunna go back to loving and trusting my car.

New Tread

So I've owned by T4R one week, drove by Discount Tire to purchase some 265/70/17 Duratracs. Getting them installed tomorrow when they come in from their other store. Will post with pics tomorrow.

I was on a slight incline and the road was wet and I lost control of the wheel. Car was going left and right and the steering wheel wasn't responsive. I feel like the breaks didn't entirely engage either. I was a little spooked, so my recollection probably isn't perfect. Has this happened to anyone?

If this is driver error, man, I didn't think I was that bad!

Sounds like you were on ice, maybe black ice. The stock tires also suck so there's always that. Truth is though, no matter what tires you have, nothing works well on ice.

Yup. Happens all the time when I see a snow covered road, turn off the traction control and gun it in 2H. The ass end slides out and I feel happy.

Sounds like you hit some and may have inadvertently turned off your traction control. Either way, its good practice to purposefully initiate a fish tail in an open parking lot or vacant road in icy/ snowy conditions so that you learn how your vehicle will react and how to control it safely when it happens unexpectedly.

Happened to me in college when my acura integra started spinning on the highway. All I saw was mac truck, mac truck, mac truck, median. I was able to safely gun the engine at the right time to safely get my car off the road and out of harms way. Know your vehicle like your hand.

Picked up my new wheels and tires today! Just have to wait for the icon lift to arrive end of this month...

Tires are 285/65/r18 bfg KO2
Wheels are fuel vectors 18x9 with 1mm offset and 5” backspacing.

Can’t wait to see this set up once it’s all together
