Canvasback cargo cover

I like that Canvasback cargo cover. It's a lot neater and better looking than my old canvas tarp. I'll take a look at those for my T4R.

They are nice, and I like mine a lot, but they are very slick. I ended up going to Lowe's and buying a rubber mat and cut it to fit the tray to keep stuff from sliding.

I got the Canvasback for my ski trips and hopefully a new dog after my son is done with his allergy shots. I will be putting my Toyota tray back on top based on this feedback.

Nice day today for installs of my GOBI rack and Canvasback liner. Had the GOBI installed today onsite and they took very good care of me! Very pleased!

Do you have a link to that cargo liner? Just got a rescue pup on Friday and I need something back there. I will put the factory rubber liner on top of it to stop her from sliding around.

However once it is chipped, scratched, or showing metal it is a trap for moisture and eventually rust. The only way to truly repair it is to strip and re powdercoat. Powdercoating is essentially a plastic shell around the metal. The more you know.

AFAIK, Powder coating is a process where they electrically charge the steel plate and then spray paint. It sticks better and applies more evenly to the electric charged steel. Once applied it is no more likely to rust or trap moisture. It scratches easily and that's why no one guarantees their powder coating will arrive intact due to the potential for damage during shipping. Once steel is scratched bare, the rust itself will spall and lift paint.

I see the same problem in buildings with reinforcing steel in concrete that gets exposed to moisture. It spalls and pops the concrete off, leading to more rust. Concrete is not impervious to water so any moisture present around concrete will leach through. Over time it rusts the steel rebar.

With my RCI skid plates they only sell them with powder coating. Otherwise I would have ordered them bare steel and saved quite a few dollars. When they arrived I painted them over again with Rustoleum paint because they'll see a lot of water, the topsides will hold small amounts of water and they'll get scratched under the frame every time I go off-roading.

Recalled airbag module replaced

Got the passenger side pipe bomb replaced today. They replaced the whole airbag module (04007-14335) and front pillar trim (62220-35030). It's actually a quite involved process according to these instructions they are supposed to follow. It took about 3 hours of solid work.

While they were at it, I also had the transmission serviced (fluid replacement). The parts listed there were 6600 BG Kit and 3123 Synthetic Fluid. While I didn't get a the "opportunity" to try out the new airbag , I was amazed how much better the transmission felt on the way home. It had been over 60k miles since the last fluid change and over that time it had developed a small bump going into 5th gear and the shifts between the gears were firm... kind of like the old days when we would change valve body springs to firm up the shifts. Now it is very smooth. It shifts very quickly but you don't feel it anymore. No leaks, no damage so a good day at the dealer.

Got my FrontRunner Slimline II Full Length Roof Rack Installed!

Super excited to get this rack on. Can't wait to get more accessories for it. I want to get an awning and RTT for sure (just don't know what brand to go with yet). I had the Gobi Stealth on for about a week, but eventually wanted to try out the FrontRunner. I am happy with the results so far, and excited to put it to use.

Where did you purchase that roof rack? Does it replace the bars too or do you just attach to the existing?

Finally bought one of my own and got on some light trails to test everything out. This is fun truck. It sure beats the Jeep I traded in for it.

2015 Trail Premium with 35k miles. I wanted KDSS but it's tough to find in the southeast. I settled when I found a deal I didn't think I could pass up. Trails and Off Roads period are tough to find within 50-100 miles for some reason.
