What did you do to/in your 5th Gen today?!

It is all plug and play, no splicing of wires. The most difficult part are removing the panels and being careful not to break anything. It took me like 3-4 hours. It was my first time dismantling the dash.

After everything is installed you need to program the ecu. You can go to the dealership to have this done or you can do it on your own.

I bought a "VXDIAG VCX Nano Toyota and Lexus Diagnose and Programming Tool Compatible with J2534" ($80 from amazon) it comes with Techstream software from toyota. Installed it on an old laptop running windows xp and programming done in 5mins.

Thanks for the info, I've been looking at the OEM one for a while and debating if I wanted to rip everything apart, was hoping it was plug and play

So I was seeing a bunch of people post stuff about a restrictor in the stock air box which was noticed when replacing with an aftermarket intake. I figured there had to be a way to remove it so I messed around with it tonight after work. Removed the lower air box, removed the water shield from the intake box, tapped the restrictor from the inside once with a hammer, fell right out. May have improved midrange power and it has a subtle throaty sound to it now. Not the sound of an aftermarket intake by any means but I do hear a difference. Only other mod is an AFE Pro Dry drop in filter. 10 minutes and free, works for me!

Did mini paint correction and full detail, and then took it on Lusardi truck trail the next day to ruin everything. :dancin: The truck is more Quicksand colored than white now.

I've seen references to "paint correction" a few times now. I used to do the concours thing back in my Porsche days, so I'm pretty familiar with car care, but I'm not sure what paint correction is. Can anyone shed some light?

Refers to correcting imperfections in the paint or clear coat...it can mean a lot of different things. Some of the imperfections arise over time (swirls from car washes, etc.) or could be from the factory (excessive orange peel in the clear coat).

Corrections can range from a simple clay bar to remove contaminants, or a full wet sand removal of clear coat and some paint thickness, followed by application of clear overlayer to protect the paint.

Finally started getting my sliders tacked up. 1/4” plate on the frame, 1.75x.120 DOM bumpers, 2x3x.120 slider, 2x2x.120 stringers. The game plan is to top them off with some fancy bends and dimple holes for tread plates.

Can you open the rear door? That kickout angle looks mighty high.

Was out flying my drone at the park and noticed a black 5th gen parked next to me. Figured I'd get a shot of the two chillin together.

It was never hit or even touched. It was sitting in a driveway and then the next time I turned the truck on all of the lights illuminated. Really no chance of it getting hit or cut sitting still on a flat gravel driveway. There are also several nicks and slices in the line, but there is only one cut all the way through.

There is even an open lawsuit with Toyota using soy based wires and animals chewing through them. Unfortunately, a rabbit is the only logical explanation at this point, which is just craziness.

I tried to pay close attention to that and it is fairly high. But, I have plenty of clearance as it sits, about 3/4". Things may change if I take a substantial hit. I don't think it will, but if it does, I know a guy...
