Got my passenger side airbag replaced. Hooray for no shrapnel.

Lucky you. I got a letter from Elk Grove Toyota to come with my truck and get it done, however it is quite expensive to ship my 4Runner from Poland to California just for airbag replacement. Toyota USA did not help at all - they told me to come with my truck to USA or bugger off.

Currently I'm working with my Toyota Service in Poland to have that recall be done locally here by them. They do service my both trucks (Tacoma and 4Runner) and so far they are very willing to help.

Just drove it around and enjoyed the absolute heck out of it.

I have a bit of a car flipping habit and have gone through a lot of cars way faster and way nicer than my 4Runner. But there's something I absolutely love about the simplicity and build quality on this thing. I think it's tied for the #1 favorite vehicle I've owned with a 1974 BMW 2002, which was also dead simple and built by people who really cared about it.

Truck alignment

I leveled my KDSS lean today.
I finished installing the ICON Tubular Stage 7 lift a few days ago but I had a significant KDSS lean. .... I got a tip here to add an OME 10 mm spacer to one of the back springs. That did the trick! The two sides are within 1/4" of each other, front and back.
Tomorrow I can get the truck aligned.

I got the truck aligned today by an independent shop that does almost nothing else. Jerry's Alignment in Pasadena. They did a good job and knew just what to do.
I took it for a test drive up into the local San Gabriel Mountains so I could go hiking. It drives well on the freeway and mountain roads.

I just bought my 4Runner from the dealership I work at. Today was my day off, so I took my lovely girlfriend out for day. I’m looking to replace my SR5 tires 265/70-17 (factory duelers) with same size Hankooks Dynapro ATM RF10 tires. Has anyone made this switch and noticed a difference in gas mileage. I’m new here, so any feedback is appreciated

I believe all cars from all driving schools in my town have built-in speed limiter set to 20mph. It does not matter if the posted speed limit is 25mph or 45mph, all student drivers a driving at 20mph or less. IMH this is really bad teaching technique. You can't learn to drive when you have to drive that slow. It is like teaching people to swim but only in 1ft deep water.

But today it went to extreme. For exactly one minute and 8 seconds (recorded on my dash cam) I was following a student driver making a right turn from one street to another (it was an off-ramp, not even an intersection). Yes, it took him 1 minute to drive about 100 yards. That is the average speed less than 4mph. And because it was one lane off/on-ramp connecting two streets the only thing I could do was follow him keeping a safe distance without touching a gas pedal.

Have patience...It takes us Polocks longer to acquire any skill what so ever. :shrug:

I did this with KO2's right after I bought it and bought them in the stock size 265/70/17. Honestly I did not check my mileage, in fact I still have never checked the mpg's and I'm at 15,600 miles now. But I wanted to say if you have a discount tire or something similar around you...when I did mine they took the stock tires in on a trade and gave me $60 per tire for them so this could help you offset the cost of the Dynapros. Also those Dynapros are nice, I have them on my M416 trailer. You will like them.

Today I got a phone call from Toyota Service in my town. They were ready to order parts for my airbag recall work. Thanks to T4R.ORG I got the pdf of "TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAFETY RECALL G0P FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR MODULE CERTAIN 2010 MY 4Runner", which I emailed them earlier. Remember, my 4Runner is the first and probably the only 5th gen 4Runner in the whole country so local Toyota Service needs some education on the subject. :wink2:

Making the story short, today they ordered new airbag and LH A-pillar garnish (in my color), that all should arrive in March. When parts arrive they will do all the recall work on Toyota dime. arty:
