Might try and take a heat gun to the Gobi sticker on the wind deflector. Not a huge fan of the branding or logo they have.

Hair dryer will make short work of that sticker...

The new Uniden R3 radar detector came today. Mounted it with the included large suction cup attachment right under the rear view mirror. Took off the passenger side A-plillar and hid the power cord down to the cigarette lighter.

May get the blendmount to attach the unit directly to the rear view mirror and hard wire the radar to the fuse box later on down the road. I’ll see how this goes first :fishing:

I finally got around to installing XTreme HID’s today. Thanks to [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION] for the write up, and to others who posted up their experiences. It’s great to be able to see again at night!

My neighbor made me some brackets for my 44” Extreme LED light bar. The flat brackets I had previously just weren’t cutting it, so I had an idea and he made em.

I’m very happy with the work he did and I saved hundreds of $$$ by not going to a fabrication shop. It pays to have good neighbors that are skilled craftsmen.

Got rid of silver end caps and rails and added a second set of cross bars for now until I get the $$ together for a custom rack. Got the idea from the Rago bars that use the stock rails. I will adjust the positions if there is any wind noise.

It’s been raining since I drove home from the dealer on Weds so haven’t gotten to do anything and its killing me! Did pick up the plasti-dip so I can black out the logos and bought the LEDS to do the inside. Just waiting on the weather now.

I think the concern is that the valve stem may be knocked off when off road. I flipped mine and put the valve stem closer to the rear axle, hoping it will be less likely to get hit.

I read a few posts where they also recommended lowering the spare and ignored them. After 2 years I finally tried to let it down and it was stuck. Shot a few parts with oil and may check it more often now.

Not a concern for me since my off road adventures are very rare and really mostly mud. I will however take smacking the rim on a rock over the rear bumper any day of the week. Simple to swap out a valve stem in the unlikely event it was to get damaged. As for the rear tire winch, I drop mine once a year, twice if I remember. I cover it in ZEP2000 and it's good to go.

10-13 TE roof rails look sharp on the Pro. Toyota really should've done this from the start, instead of exhuming and recycling that godawful FJ rack they're disgracing the new ones with. :tsk:

Thanks for the idea. My heat gun has a variable setting, but the low setting is 180 and I was thinking that might be a little too hot.

Starting with the hair dryer is a good call as I can always ramp up the heat from there with the gun.

:cheers: I get comments on the license plate and sticker everywhere I go, it's been a great way to meet fans and fellow off roaders, as we can talk band or rigs. It was tough just to find that plate available. So many were already taken and they never get released back into the public.
I think you have the green star man right? I have a white one and a red as a back up. If you happen to see a Rush band logo vinyl white outline let me know. I had one on my last 4 runner but can't seem to find another, and that would make a great replacement for the Gobi logo on the rack.
Wish they were still touring, or at least making albums. Always a fun show.
